Celebration and Mourning

Let us dispense with the lighthearted stuff first, shall we?

============

This item is lighthearted in the sense that it is a celebration of local Health Care Workers, but it is deeply felt too. Encouraged by the town, last night our neighbourhood participated in the first Hero Hullabaloo. I hope other neighbourhoods participated too.

We all tuned to the same radio station; some, like Sue in the rainbow slacks, danced while others just hung out.

============

This is the sad and sentimental part.

As you know, there has been an incomprensible mass shooting in Nova Scotia. One of the victims was young fiddler Emily Tuck. Renown fiddler, Natalie MacMaster, plays a virtual duet with her in this video. What a beautiful tribute! Can you imagine how touched the family would be? I am deeply moved as well.

I have nothing else to add.

  1. Loved Sue's dancing. So great that your neighbors all gathered at a distance to share together. The duet/trio of the fiddle music made me cry. Gun violence has actually decreased in the US. Strange.

  2. WE all mourned that NOva Scotia shooting and are so sad the Canada caught our killer virus of shootting. YOu are both too cute and laugh at how you are like teenagers.

  3. March was the first month without a school shooting in the US in almost two decades. This video is heartbreaking. What a range of emotion in your post today.

  4. Yes, we heard about the mass shooting in Canada. There was a mass shooting in Hawaii decades ago by a disgruntled employee, who shot 8 co-workers. He is serving life in prison.

  5. This performance spoke for a lifetime the young woman didn’t have and all the lives cut short.

  6. Good for the hullaballoo! If we did that we'd be run over!

    I love the selfie, as always.

    These are difficult times. I cannot imagine how N.S. can cope.

  7. I'm sure most people cannot find words to describe the horrible killing of 22 people.

  8. I watched both videos and smiled at Sue's vivacious dancing, and cried as I listened to the tribute to the lovely woman taken too soon from her life. Stay safe, that's an order. :-)

  10. There’s so much in this post. So many deep feelings. I loved seeing your gorgeous Sue dancing.

    And then that beautiful, heartfelt tribute to Emily Tuck. Yes, we heard about your horrible tragedy here in Hawaii and our hearts went out to all of you. I hope Emily’s family was able to see that video.
