It is reassuring that when I do something in an absent-minded stupor, which I most frequently do, I am not alone. Misery loves company after all.
I did think that I was unique, but when I posted this (below) on FB, I found out that I wasn't.
Hot water anyone? The absent-minded professor strikes again and makes coffee sans coffee. Of some consolation is the fact that he remembered long before he actually poured the coffee. Of more consolation is that the lady of the major still sleepeth, for it is mostly intended for her. Here are some of the ensuing comments.
I've done that. And so has my husband.Dont think you're special ๐Done that tooHow about starting up the coffee machine and forgetting to put a cup down to catch the coffee .... ๐คจI have forgotten the pot for the eight cup machine twice in memory. Both times with visitors, to my great embarrassment.Been there, done that! ๐. I always put milk & Stevia in my cup before brewing, so what a waste! ๐
Of course you, dear reader, would be above this. Or would you?
Forget the mug under the spout once! Heard the liquid splashing on the floor. Quite a hot mess!
ReplyDeleteI buy my coffee at the shop. If they make such mistakes, I never hear about it. Other forgets, though? I sometimes forget to turn off the burner under the kettle when making tea. It reminds me with a whistle, but if I just move it to another burner and forget, I have been known to heat the entire kitchen with that hot burner! :-)
ReplyDeleteDan has done something like that. No pot under the dripper. Luckily the coffee maker holds it because the thingamagig hasn't been tripped.
ReplyDeleteAbsent minded and age go hand in hand!
Read that Canada doing a good job keeping Covid under control unlike US.
I would be above this because I was born with some sort of genetic difference that causes me to dislike coffee. As a result, I wake up and am ready to go first thing in the morning. However I might do similar things in the evening when I'm just trying to make it to a reasonable hour before going to bed.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. One of the quoted comments is mine.
ReplyDeleteI've forgotten to put water in the reservoir and then thought that my ancient Krups was broken. It's about 26 years old.
ReplyDeleteThat has happened to me, too.
ReplyDeleteI have a single cup coffee maker and have "almost" forgotten the water to put in the small well a few times!
ReplyDeleteMy sister's stepson used to forget the cup often. He was college age!!
ReplyDeleteNope. I have forgotten to add water. I have forgotten to add coffee. I have forgotten to put the pot under. I have forgotten to turn it on. I've walked off and left it forgetting to froth my milk.
ReplyDeleteSome of us need our morning coffee more than others, I suppose. I generally dumb around until I've gotten that cup under my belt.
Yes, dear blogger, I am way above this ...
ReplyDeleteI also have been known to tell little white lies. Hee, hee.
My husband makes the coffee and so far hasn't made that mistake. Oooor... he could be just not telling me. LOL
ReplyDeleteSince I hate coffee, I would never do that.
ReplyDeleteOf course, years ago when I was still using film, I photographed a mama moose and a yearling, shot a whole roll of film.
It was only after the fact that I realized I hadn't put a new roll of film in the camera.
No, forgot to put the pot under. By the time I noticed the coffee had spread over the counter and on to the floor.
ReplyDeleteI’m with a couple of other commenters here in the don’t-like-coffee category. But I’ve made it for guests before and forgotten the filter for the coffee maker, which did not end well. Note to self: get a coffee maker with a built-in filter.
ReplyDeleteActually, I can't remember.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah - been there, done that. All of the above - well almost.
ReplyDeleteI looooove coffee. Need my morning java. Have forgotten to put the cup underneath the Keurig. Forgotten to put in a K-cup pod, and water? Yep forgotten to fill the reservoir. Seems to me it should flow naturally, like turning on the kitchen tap. LOL.
Oh yes! I have been very tired and forgotten to put the pot back!! What a mess! LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteIf there is a way to screw up making the coffee, I have done it!
