The Holder et Moi

As you know, Sue takes a lot of photos in covering the story of our lives. Naturally, she continued to do so on our little bike excursion (yesterday's post). She did lament both during the ride and subsequently that biking with the camera was problematic if one wished to keep it handy for snapping photos.

Some time after writing but not even yet publishing yesterday's post, I saw ad ad zip by whilst I was scrolling through fb. It was for a phone holder for a bicycle.

Did I purchase it? You bet, but ya gotta wonder 'cause it seems too targetted to be a coincidence.

Meanwhile . . . Sue concluded her latest photo-a-day week with high-key portraits of moi.

Being vain and full of hubris, I can't help but publish a few. So here ya go.

  1. Sue has done some excellent work with these photo portraits of you.

I notice all kinds of coincidences between FB, Insta, emails & adds that seem to randomly appear (which I know they aren't, random). I've F/B messaged a friend about something really random as a test & sure enough I started getting ads for that - coincidence???

  2. Clever if creepy marketing. Gmail is renowned for using emails to trigger relevant ads.
Nice portraits there. I like the subtlety.

  4. They are truly memorable. And I too wonder how the heck the internet reads my mind like that.

  5. That is, to repeat the coments above, fine, fine work. And I like your expressions - only, if you were about to tell Sue how to do it better, I hope she ran over you with the bike.
A phone holder for the bike - how 21st century. The first phone holder I ever remember is a desk with a seat in our front hall on which the only phone in the house, land line, was set. Before that, it was at my grandparents and hung on the wall. Nine different rings.

  6. Great portraits. I am rarely successful with black and white and must work on that!! I would be afraid of breaking my phone on the bike mounted that way. I carry an old fashioned and not too heavy DSLR and must stop to get photos.

  7. Either you accept that we are under constant scrutiny or just crawl in a hole somewhere...each word, written or spoken, within normal distance of any electronic device will trigger the algorithms of Big Brother (for lack of a better name) to sell you something in that category. Hi BB! I'm watching you watching me!

  9. We were making tacos for supper. Lots of taco talk as we worked. Alexa began helpfully showing where we could call to order delivered tacos.

  10. Sue has done well with her class assignments. As for the coincidence, I have noticed similar recommendations appear on Amazon because of an item I have previously bought.

  12. Those are excellent photos of you--very atmospheric. I too get targeted ads that are spooky. Yikes.
