Did You Hear a Scream?

It was one thing for it to happen on my phone, but now the problem has also spread to my tablet.

I refer to the disconnect between apple devices and Blogger, specifically with regards to commenting.

To wit: I can't comment on most Blogger blogs on those devices. I can still comment on WordPress and other blogs. But usually not Blogger. Sigh.

When I want to comment, I am told to sign into Google.

Although I am already signed in, I go through the steps to sign in again.

It doesn't matter, for I am once again prompted to sign into Google.

It didn't interfere with me too much when it was only my phone limited me, for until now my trusty iPad was in working order. Although I usually post blogs from the computer, I prefer to read blogs and comment from the comfy womfy embrace of my recliner.

I am sure there's a workaround to be found somewhere or other, but right now I can't be arsed to try to track in down.

Meanwhile, I can post from the tablet, or at least I think I can. If I am wrong, you will now hear read a scream.

If you hear nothing, it worked.

  1. What I have found is every week, a new week of photos disappear from my blog. Problems with Blogger are a long established for sure. What next I wonder?

  2. A casualty of the blogger/Apple wars? I read about commenting and sign in problems, and none of them seems to apply to my Android devices.

  3. So far I am okay. I use Chrome as my first browser, but also Safari when I'm on my iPad, for example. I've got my hearing aids in so go ahead and scream, I should be able to hear you. :-)

  5. The apple/google wars are taking us all for a ride. I've previously ranted about my woes. No longer able to do my mini-iPad which the screen froze, the battery died. That's one techno thing that's headed for the reclaim yard whenever there is one. Hope you can continue to comment in comfort, somehow or another.

  6. What app are you using to read the blogs? Safari? I use the Google app and have no problem reading or commenting on blogs using either my iPad of iPhone. I have never tried to do the same through the Safari app.

There used to be (perhaps still is) a Blogger App but it was horribly clunky to use and didn't work well. I currently have a BlogTouch App that is very well put together and allows me to read posts easily but has a subscription cost if one wants to use the comment functionality of it.

  7. I use Chrome. I have also tried Safari, but they both send me around in a loop.

  8. I can comment on all the blogs from my tablet, but only some of the blogs from my laptop. I feel your pain.

  9. All the reason to shun iPads. I use a Samsung tablet and have no trouble commenting on blogger and wordpress blogs. No problem. at all. Buy Samsung. That said, I often use the desktop PC for blogging, as it's easier to type on the keyboard.

  11. I used to use Safari but now use Firefox and have no problems with commenting. Although the translate button disappeared a week ago. It did that a while ago and then came back but hasn't returned this time.

  12. I tend to comment from my phone. I still have the problem others report for the last year- comments vanishing into spam.

  13. I had to set up a fake blog to comment on blogger, and an account to do WP comments. It's pain if I'm not on my laptop (which remembers the sign ins); forget about trying from my iPhone. What a pain!! Hope you have no difficulty with typepad.

  14. I do all my commenting via a laptop. On tablets or phone devices, I never get lucky with it. Maybe this is why blogspot platform is limited in its expansion of audience because of this hiccup?

  15. What a hassle. So sorry to hear. I had a similar problem on my old laptop. I used ro have to keep clearing the cache and my browsing history because of lack of memory (my laptop, not me). My new laptop doesn't seem to suffer from the same problem (knock on wood).

  16. There is a simple workaround. Get rid of all the Apple products in your house. Steve Jobs may have been very smart but he was a dictator.

  17. I have the SAME problem! When I use my iPhone or iPad to comment, I have to choose ANONYMOUS and make sure I write: Kay of Musings so blogger buddies will know it's me. It's really frustrating. There's really no setting I can find to change this. However, I'm writing right now on my Macbook Air and it's fine. It recognizes me on my desktop as well. It's just my iPad and iPhone that won't recognize me on Blogger. It's the weirdest thing.

  19. Oh dear. I didn't know about these issues as I have no Apple products. I do hope you find a resolution.

  20. On my Apple laptop I have to use Chrome to post and comment. Safari doesn't work consistently. DOn't use iPhone of iPad to do either.

  22. I cannot speak to any of this as I do everything from a MacBook Pro .... nestled in the comfy womfy confines of my recliner. I hear you, friend. xoxo

  23. Sometimes we can cause our own issues as happened to me when I tried private browsing mode on the iPad a few months ago. It required me to sign into many websites including blogger, so I switched out of it. However, like AC despite signing into blogger again it doesn’t recognize my being signed in . Oddly enough I can comment on some blogs with my name, but on many show as anonymous. Luckily, this issue is not on the desktop PC.
