A feed called Introvert Problems kept on popping up on my Twitter feed. Being an introvertish sort of personality, I decided to follow it. There is a lighthearted bent but, at the same time, there is also a somewhat keen take on a introvert's frame of mind.
Let's begin with this image, also taken from their Twitter feed, and we'll follow that with a few selected tweets (in italics) before concluding with another fun image.
When you’re an introvert, one of the worst things you can hear in class is, “break up into small groups with those around you to discuss what we’ve been learning in class.”
Imagine if quieter people asked loud people ‘why are you always talking?’ with the same confidence that they ask us why we’re always quiet
Friend: There’s somebody I want you to meet.
Me: I know enough people.
You know you’re an introvert when you go to the bar for the first time in months and all you can think about is your dog and how comfy you’d be in bed.
The reason I like staying up late so much is because between the hours of 1am-5am, the world is quiet and no one expects anything from me. I could stare at my wall for 4 hours and there would be no consequences. It’s so silent and calm. I love it.
Being an introvert, I’ve had more thoughts about how I would have a conversation than actually having a conversation.
I hate making plans with people in advance ... like idk if in 3 days from now I’ll want to be social or wrapped up in a blanket cocoon on the couch.
I’m always a safe person to cancel plans with, chances are I didn’t really wanna do stuff anyway.
People who say “go big or go home” seriously underestimate my willingness to go home. Like, it’s literally my only goal.
The problem with being introverted is that there is no polite way of saying “I love you but I’m tired of being with you right now.”
I mean this from the bottom of my heart … if it’s textable…do not call me

Lots of heading nodding in agreement with the list. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is all familiar since I am married to someone who is more introverted than I am!
ReplyDeleteI can certainly relate to a fair share of them. I'm able to go out and appear to be social and outgoing, but it takes a lot out of my internal batteries and I need to recharge them at some point.
ReplyDeleteI am an introvert. I have days where, as the expression goes, hell is other people.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny. COVID has me terribly happy at home.
ReplyDeleteI like this list. I wonder if blogging is somehow related to introversion...
ReplyDeleteI don't use twitter, but I've been interested in watching Musk's latest debacle. Apparently it is still working, at least for some people. You are definitely an introvert, AC. :-)
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. That is me, but I also know that it is dangerous if I retreat from people too much.
ReplyDeleteI love being out with people, up to a point. Then my batteries run down. Lockdown was a great relief, no pressure to go out, show up, join in. People longing to get back out there puzzled me.
ReplyDeleteI'm an outgoing introvert who loves to people watch, so I enjoy social situations...up to a point!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to most of those.
ReplyDeleteNope. Not me. I even like big parties, although it is really for the food that I go.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes!
ReplyDeleteI read a book that was called something like "The Power of the Introvert. I can't find it now. It was a very interesting read. Eleonor Roosevelt was a famous introvert.
ReplyDeleteThose comments definitely rang true to me. All of them.

Everything is on a spectrum these days. We are all a bit of introvert and extrovert depending on the weather
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely great! I identify with too many of these options!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I should print this off and hang it on my wall. I love my friends and family but need to scuttle back into my hidey hole to recharge.
ReplyDeleteOh me too, me too. There might be some people who might think I'm not, but I am.
ReplyDeleteI never answered a question voluntarily until I made it to university. I was so afraid!
