Gowned

Who wouldn't want to see a selfie of moi in a hospital gown with my clothes in a bag on my lap? → →

So yeah. I had a lovely visit with  Dr Pee for my 4th cystoscope in 10 months. He read previous lab results re. my infection, listened to my symptoms, and prescribed 3 more weeks of ciprofloxacin, saying that it often takes a long dose of antibiotics to eliminate prostatitis. One hopes that he is right and that it works.

Meanwhile, I had to change my shirt twice last night. Anytime the nightly sweating chooses to cease would be AOK with me.

It was about a half hour drive to see him in the next town to the south. The speed limit on that two-lane highway if 80kph. I was driving ~95.

The cars lined up behind me and zoomed by when we hit the passing lane.

FYI, 80kph is roughly 50mph and 100kph is 60mph.

Do drivers disregard speed limits where you live?

So, that is about it. I was going to drone on and on about more mundane matters of my day, but I will just leave you with this ↓ ↓ photo from last night when I saw lights on the major road out back.

They were repaving the road but went by quickly. I was slow to find my phone, but I did get the photo just before they went out of sight. This passes for excitement in this lil ole life o mine.

It does surprise me that vehicles can drive on the road almost as soon as the asphalt is laid.

Lights in the night could give one a fright,
but thank you for posting these here,
for as I come and go, I spot your stop-light
and take time to greet you. m'dear!

Keep taking the pills, but remember laughter is the best medicine. ;-)

Oh so sorry the shirt change in the night is still necessary, and that you'll still be anti-ing your biotics for a while longer.

It sure seems like it's been a long time going away, and I'm not even affected except by your posts. Must be tiresome for you, eh?

So sorry the bother is still with you. Hoping for some resolution for your problem.

When I was prone to bladder infections, the only thing that worked to alleviate them was cipro. Hope this bout does the trick, AC.

Yes, traffic routinely goes about 5 mph over any posted speed limit here on the highways. In town, it can be as much as 10 mph. My balance is to go 5 mph over so I don't get run over and don't get a ticket. Tickets generally start at 10+ mph over because by law, only then does it get placed in a database where insurance companies can view the next time they renew your insurance.

The street our quiet street connects to is a main artery for college kids going to the local community college. The speed limit is 25 mph but I find in the minutes leading up to 8 am, speed routinely approach 40+ mph. I also know that these first couple weeks, police routinely set up a speed trap in a perfect spot to catch speeders so I mind my speed. I heard their sirens at least a dozen times in the hour or so I was out in my garage this morning. By next week, traffic will be a bit slower for awhile on that street.

Gosh, that's a long time on antibiotics. I hope you are eating lots of yogurt!

Neat paving photo. It really tells the story. So, alas, does AC all gowned up. You have had a siege. Hope the end of the antibiotic will be the end of the problem.
I am now four weeks with the new knee and still whining.

Speed limits. I once amused myself by driving to Toronto from here at the speed limit. Took me an extra half hour and I felt like a problem on the road. However, I must confess I do not always obey speed limits myself, especially when they seem to be really stupid. There is a section of 60 km coming into Lanark Village where the road crosses a marshy area and there is not a driveway or impediment in sight. So I ignore it. Tsk.
I note that the limit on the 417 coming into Ottawa from the west has been raised to 110 until you get to the exit for Hwy 7. Still slower than the majority of drivers bombing past me.

Hopefully this sorts it all out.

Well this is a revolting development but I fervently hope you are on the final mend. YES drivers flagrantly and dangerously flout the speed limit where I live. That, and they run red lights, and pull out in front of you so you have to slam on the brake. I could just scream sometimes. xoxo

Ciprofloxacin is marvelous stuff. I hope it finally fixes what ails you. Funny, I said cipro, and push text insisted on spelling it out.

Keeping fingers crossed for you to be over the infections. ;-)

I hope that will fix the issue, including the night sweating. No matter how fast I go, there are many others who want to go faster. So, I let them. If they really want a traffic ticket, go for it!

What a summer--and spring--you have had. Not much fun. I do hope the meds do their magic soon.

I sure hope this course of antibiotics knocks the hell out of those ornery, urinary bacteria!!!!

I worry that this length of time on the antibiotics may cause havoc with your intestinal microbiota. Be sure to drink a lot of water to decrease that possibility.

I'm trying to figure out the pattern on your hospital gown. Looks like a car making bubbles swimming in water.
To keep your intestines happy while you're on antibiotics, be sure and take a PRObiotic capsule as far away as possible from the time you take the ANTIbiotic: if you take the ANTIbiotic at noon, take the PRObiotic at 6pm. Unless you really love lots of yogurt. The brand X probiotic at Sam's is fine; it's equal to Align. Doing this usually keep gas and diarrhea from starting when you're trying to finish the antibiotic.
Don't drink bleach; it's not good for covid, only cleaning white clothes.

Speed limits? What speed limits? No, here a lot of people pay no attention to them. And really -- they're fast enough. 70 or 75 on the interstates (you can get by with 5 over without any issue) and 55 on state roads unless near populated areas. It's hard for us yanks go slow down in Canada!

DB Stewart said...

I too am concerned by speed but also by the many drivers who do not stop for pedestrians. Sigh.

Once again, dude: you are teaching me perseverance.

It does not make sense why you need 4 cystoscopies in a year. If there is no bladder diverticulum, ureter misplacement or reflux, stones or mass, one cystoscopy is more than enough. Unless Canada has the technology to inject high dose antibiotic to eradicate microsphere colonies of bacteria colonisation in the bladder wall.

Anvilcloud said...

@roentare; Each cysto had a different purpose.

The first cysto was to determine if I required TURP surgery. I did.

The second was to check the spot on the bladder that was also seen in the first cysto. He couldn't get through to see the spot, so he dilated.

The third cysto was an emergency to dilate me again and to install a catheter.

This fourth one was to finally check in the spot in the bladder. That will be repeated in 6 months. He also extracted some urine (I think) to test for cancer cells.

roentare said...

The dilatation only causes urethral stricture in the future. It should have been suprapubic catheter. Regardless, all the best.

Angie's Recipes said...

Get well soon! Such a long time on antibiotics must be hard on your body too.

Anvilcloud said...

@roentare

The dilations became necessary because I had almost closed up completely and could almost not urinate at all. The catheter was to get me through to the surgery two weeks later. It was the first date available.

This was all back in May. I wrote about it at the time, but we probably weren't even blog acquaintances back then.

You have been through so much! I hope this resolves soon.
I know those kind of speeds. It really is awful.
