Covidiots and Lockdowns

I know that I have already written a recent COVID post and that everyone is weary of the pandemic, but this particular link has me going and shows why we do need lockdowns. You don't even need to click it because the headline ↓ tells is all that we need to know.

Can you imagine being so intent on partying in spite of the temporary restraining rules that you are willing to risk a $1550 fine? Then you go back a second night to try again!

It's too bad that we need laws to save people from themselves, but, apparently, we do.

We use lockdowns to try to keep control of the total numbers which have recently been escalating, for we need to keep some space in hospitals and their emergency departments in particular. Aside from the crowding issue, in a publically funded system everyone's behaviour matters to everyone else. If a person incurs unnecessary health expenses, I am, therefore, helping to pay for it, at least to some small degree.

We really shouldn't have to be forced into lockdown to behave properly. For a whole year, we have known what precautions to take, so much so that I won't even bother to insult you by reiterating them here.

I know a fellow who has three fast food restaurants with a total of 400 employees. Following sensible practices, they have not experienced one single case. It can be done.

There are folk, often the medical community, who believe that the present lockdown needs to be stricter. On the other hand, we have those who are furious about having any restrictions whatsoever. Personally, I am also kind of miffed but not so much that we have lockdowns. No, what grinds my gears is that we need to have lockdowns: lockdowns that ought to be avoidable.

In this household, we will continue to follow the careful measures that no one has to tell us to follow.

  1. Oh, those idiots are in the same class as the ones I posted about recently: "they walk among us".

  2. I agree & I am SO fed up with the restrictions because people just won't stay home. You make an excellent point about our health care costs; costing us all when others dis-respect the medical & science advice. COVIDIOTS for sure.
Neighbours all around us on Sunday had family gatherings & in our community F/B group, people told each other to mind their own business ... well causing spread & hospital admissions is my business. Oh I could rant on ...

  3. It's happening everywhere and consequently the infection numbers are rising. Anti-mask protest on our Main Street a couple of days ago. Stupid. And small businesses, restaurants, hair salons, gyms all forced to close for 28 days but Costco and the other big stores can stay open. Stupid again.
Anyway I had a super delicious take out turkey dinner from a local restaurant yesterday, Support local business!

  4. It is infuriating to see such reckless behaviour. I hope it is all resolved soon as we all are vaccinated.

  5. Mind blowing. Truly. Simple precautions and no one dies. Not rocket science.

  6. I agree with you. We are opening up the economy too fast and people are becoming complacent. Recently, the cops broke up a huge concert in Honolulu which was illegal.

  7. I guess it is nice (and a shame) to see that we (the U.S.) aren't the only nation whose citizens are so engrossed upon themselves that they can't see how their actions affect others. I'm not sure why that is but until we are raised to realize that our auctions affect others, we are in for a world of problems after this pandemic is over.

  8. It is truly disheartening, not to mention astonishing, to see how stupid so many of us are. -Kate

  10. You have said it so well, John. We should not need to be told what to do in order to safeguard ourselves and others. Yet as rhe saying goes, a few bad applies DO spoil the whole bunch...and rhe same applied to humans.

  11. Excellent post. We should be able to see what's best for us and those around us.

  12. I agree completely. And I have no parties to attend.

  13. They’re everywhere! We had and maybe still have a huge group of young tourists going to Maui to some beach and dancing around naked and without masks. And you wonder why Maui’s COVID numbers are so high. We now have a mayor on Oahu wanting to open up while our numbers are starting to go up. Oh... and there’s a King’s Cathedral religious group on Maui (also) who are refusing to follow the COVID guidelines. It’s terrible. They are citing religious freedom. Never mind that there was a COVID outbreak amongst their congregation. Absolutely brainless. No thought to the fact that they can spread it to others around the island.

  14. It's all so discouraging and infuriating. I didn't realize the depth of some people's selfishness and ignorance. They are too self-absorbed to respect the safety rules of a lethal pandemic! Arggghhh!!

  15. Totally agree with you!! So frustrating!

  16. It's very infuriating. We have the same thing happening right here, with spring breakers returning from Florida and bringing the virus back with them. I am just glad to be fully vaccinated now, and still following all the rules for the foreseeable future.

  17. Our restaurants are doing well, I think. We placed an order Friday for $130. We do our part!
The big deal has been getting educators inoculated. Also, sick leave and proper protocols in big factories.

  18. The people who scream the loudest about the restrictions are generally the reason we have them.
