My Right Foot

I awake, wash up, put on the coffee, don my sweater and socks, and sit down to the computer. I check my usual sites, usually including this one. Even if I have a post ready to publish, I usually check it over one more time. Even then, I make more mistakes than enough because I am the world's worst proofreader.

I have a bad foot. You know this because I mention it from time to time.

What you don't know is that the foot affects my gait and that, in turn, does a number on my socks, frequently twisting them around into stupid and undesirable configurations.

But how it got in to this state while I sat at the computer, I just don't know.

As you can see, it is my right foot, which is the culprit.

Lacey doesn't care. She just waits for her next kibble handout.

  1. In the past few weeks I've had swelling in my ankles pretty badly from sitting for lengths of time here at the computer. I have found elevating them, and putting the laptop literally in my lap helps. My cardiologist gave me some pills to take as well, water pills he called them. They are a diuretic, helping remove fluids through urine! So I only take them if my ankles seem swollen, and in the morning so I don't stay awake all night. When I wake up at least my ankles are usually back to their proper size, so I don't pay any attention till they sit here. I love your socks...and hope they help your condition, whatever it may be. The cat definitely doesn't care!

  4. For some reason, my winter socks have all decided to have gaping holes. I think I'm down to a single pair now until I break out the spring socks.

  6. Nice red socks. I find my socks twist & bunch inside a particular pair of boots; too bad they are good walking boots.

Lacey is such a sweetie, so pretty & patience. My fur girls would have attacked your sock feet by now (lol).

  7. I dunno AC. Looks as if the cat is about to comment on the sock. As in sock it to you?
    Sorry.

  8. I wear holes through my socks on the heels but that's because I go around a lot in my socks. I wouldn't think hardwood or carpet would wear them out. Perhaps it's the tile in my bathroom. Isn't there a book/film called "My Left Foot?" I'm sorry that your right foot is painful and limiting. Perhaps it can be fixed in the future.

  9. I hope your foot improves. My socks twist and turn all the time, maybe I should get some better fitting ones.

  10. I have gotten behind. Today I wandered from your red feet through her pink and striped feet to the wonderful images of old and new to your very in focus kitty. Wonderful stuff. Thank you.

  12. My socks have a way of warping themselves in my boots and sliding off. Never happens in shoes or hikers. Just in the winter.

  13. Hmm. I am having commenting trouble again, so I am trying a different route....

From the look of your sock... it may be that you have some plantar fasciitis occurring. I had this for a brief period about 1.5 years ago. If you look up the term on-line, there are common stretches that you can do to help the condition abate. It mostly involves stretches that will help to elongate tendons in the paddle portion of your foot over time.

Even though you can do the exercises easily with walls, and socks or rope, I did buy this item that made the stretches much easier to do:

    https://www.amazon.com/Stretcher-Stretch-Plantar-Fasciitis-Achilles/dp/B085DL5JPX/ref=sr_1_6?crid=PSHEAQLYRY2Z&dchild=1&keywords=plantar+fasciitis+stretcher&qid=1615331091&sprefix=plantar+fasciitis+stretcher%2Caps%2C227&sr=8-6

When I had that tightness of the plantar fasciitis (I think mine occurred because I tripped on an edge of sidewalk once while running), my sock would twist in a very similar way to what you show.

Not sure if this would help you or not, but thought I would let you know what helped me.

  16. It wouldn't have been noticeable without the sock design. :-)
