Progress
When I get ready for bed, I open the blinds in my den at night for Lacey in case she wants to look out during the night. When I arise in the dark in the morning, I close them because I don't want to be on display.
A little later, when it gets light, I open the blinds again.
Not long ago, the sun rose late so the re-opening had to wait until after 7 o'clock. Yesterday morning. when I entered the den at about 6:10, I left the blinds up.because the light was already beginning to break.

The Red Coat
A number of you commented positively on my red coat in recent photos, and it is true that red really helps many photos. I remember once changing Sue's coat to red for effect in Photoshop in a photo of her walking along a path.
I bought the coat a few years ago because Sue liked it. In addition to the colour, it is lightweight but still pretty warm.
Besides, as you know, I like red.
The crazy thing is that at the time I had just purchased a new coat (below) and didn't need another one. But I always listen to my woman, so I bought it.
Apparently, it is not the restaurant's fault, but I understand that it is closed for cleaning and also, perhaps, because all of the staff have had to go into quarantine.
This is certainly alarming and reinforces my resolve to keep me away from problematic environments as much as possible.
Out of caution, the town has also closed its facilities -- the arena, the pool, and the library -- for two weeks.
This is the right thing to do.
We are in a somewhat more reduced alert now after a three day closure. We just keep going, waiting for the vaccine.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying seeing your red coats. I was awakened by the moon peering in my window the other night...and could even see it at dawn when I got out of bed. Past full moon, but it's still my good friend smiling down at me.
ReplyDeleteI like red. My Mother always said that every room in a home should have something red in it.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what people don't get about COVID - it spreads by close human contact. You want the lockdowns to end, the pandemic to be over, then stay away from group gatherings that are not part of your household.
One of the things I like about our current house is that it isn't near anybody and so we don't have any blinds at all. We only have a couple curtains on some sliding glass doors to limit solar gain during the summer time.
ReplyDeleteI suspect those of you who did so well in tamping down the virus will continue to see outbreaks until enough vaccines are metered out. We on the other hand, who didn't do well at all, are now at our lowest levels since all this began. I suspect much has to do with us having already achieved herd immunity because a full 20% of our county's population has tested positive already and another 10% or more has now had the vaccine. I'm guess most of the rest have already had it too and just never got tested.
Even though we are both vaccinated, we have NO plans for going to restaurants or large gatherings. Dinner at home with vaccinated friends is as daring as we get. And even so, no hugging!
ReplyDeleteNorth of here there's a big outbreak on the Dartmouth College Campus. They think it's one of the variants that is more contagious. Though we've had our first shot we are still cautious about going out. Last trip out was to grocery store after getting the first shot. Library doesn't count since I had to make an appointment.
ReplyDeleteWow, it takes just one cluster to make things bad. I hope things clear up and people can socialize normally again, but probably not this year.
ReplyDeleteAnd in spite of what the government and healthcare specialists ask of us, and do in regard to lockdowns and regulations, we ourselves can make the decisions on a daily basis to curb our social activities. Gov't may lift lockdowns and open up bars and restaurants and gyms, but I'm still not going to them. -Kate
ReplyDeleteI feel fortunate to live in a state that takes the virus seriously, not like Texas for instance. Even though some stores there will keep the mask mandate, it will be impossible to enforce.
ReplyDeleteThose are two very different reds, and I like both of them! I don't wear the color frequently and when I do, it's usually the more mulberry version of it. Unlike Sue, my late husband wasn't a fan of red, especially when I wore red lipstick. You probably don't have that issue...
ReplyDeleteHah! I too, like the red coat.... and I like the maroon & grey coat too! I tend to agree that more red (and also maroon) is valuable.... I wish I had more of my clothing/coats in those hues.

You are fun. I am wife #3, and he always says, "Yes, dear!"
ReplyDeleteI alternate between a leather jacket and a couple of wool overcoats. All black.
ReplyDeleteyes, love the red coat and it makes a good photo. The YD has one also, and I have a fine photo of her surrounded by very white snow.
ReplyDeleteWe are still okay on this side of the line, but worried, as you are, that it will spread. Frustrating, when otherwise things are going well. I guess it is the twenty somethings that get careless. My grandkid's school, Grades 7 to 12, over 1000 kids, has not had a single case. The kids are masked, careful and following the rules.
I've bought several red coats in the past just because they look good.
ReplyDeleteYou have once coat for outdoor work and one for outdoor fun.
ReplyDeleteI love red accents so I love the red coats.
ReplyDeleteYes, hope you guys stay safe! :)
I was told to avoid an orange red and stick to a blue red for my coloring. Actually, because of the previous administration, I was not thrilled with the color.
