Tuesday: we are walking in our little downtown. It's beautiful out, something, like 14C/58F. Although still February, it is like an early spring day. I am hatless and gloveless. My coat is open, but I am not chilly. What more could an old geezer wish for on a February day?
But there is more.
Across the street, we spy a man on a bike with a red parrot on this shoulder. He sees Sue pointing her phone. He comes over for a chat.
He and the parrot make a good pair, for they are both 65 years old.
The parrot can fly, but he is more than happy to sit on the man's shoulder and to be taxied about the town.
Isn't he a beauty? |
For me, it is a wonderful sighting and encounter on what is already such a fine day.

That is one gorgeous parrot, all right!
That's such a great encounter you all had! A nice 65 year old parrot and his owner! It was indeed spring-like yesterday, while today is back to freezing again. The yo-yo continues.
It is wonderful to get out and walk around since, as you've shown today, you never know what interesting sights you can come across. Yes, that parrot was a beauty and his owner was doing well too.
Something you don't see every day.
Wow! That parrot is gorgeous. This is one for the books, something I am sure I will never see.
Oh how wonderful. That is a gorgeous bird and WOW how neat that he just sits on his human perch and takes the air! My brother who lives in Galveston, Texas, has a few parrots. They are real characters. I'm so happy that y'all had a beautiful weather day. Everything here is blooming and the coating of neon-yellow pollen is starting. Which means that noses are running, hahaha xoxo
What an amazing encounter. That bird is in great shape.
Not a typical bird I see around here for sure. What a beauty!
That's a macaw! What a lovely bird. I imagine he keeps the flight feathers trimmed to reduce the bird's flight range. I'm surprised the bird was ok out of doors in what was a mild but far from tropical day.
What a beautiful bird!
Is it only me or does that man look like a pirate? Those big birds are extremely intelligent and trainable. However, their beaks are scary; I wouldn't want to anger one!
What a surprise! I have been told parrots are tricky to care for, and they live so long.
Totally cool! Linda in Kansas
Life: you just never know what you're going to experience almost any given day.
Wow!
I'm impressed. Sixty five years. That's impressive.
What an amazing sight to behold. It's a good thing you noticed, but then again both you & Sue have a photographer's eye, so nothing will get past either of you :)
PS - with the drastic turn of weather, I hope both the bike man & bird are tucked up warm at home!
Oh my! That parrot shot is magnificent -- and what a fun experience (and perfect day, too!)
What a great day! I love meeting characters, with or without parrots!
He's definitely a gorgeous bird. 65? I didn't know they could live that long.
Only you could find a parrot .... on a spring in February day.
