When Sue came into the den at 7:30 to brew her morning coffee, she asked how I had slept.
My reply: "Alright."
Later, when she learned that I had been up since 4:30, she wondered how I could say that my sleep was okay.
Well, it's all relative, isn't it?
Getting 5+ hours is pretty okay compared to 4- hours. The extra hour, and hopefully a bit more, really does make a difference.
I think having a cat on your head would help you to understand this.
Then on a subsequent morning, Sue and I, from our separate rooms, both arose at 6. Sue was not best pleased about awaking at such an early-for-her hour. I, on the other hand, was chuffed to be able to sleep-in so long.
LOL at the cat on Sue's head. I have one cat that is not adjusting to the time change & having her crawl all over me at 4am is challenging my love for cats (not really). Sleep or lack there of, is the new pandemic according to recent health stats that I read. Yes rising at 6am would be sleeping in!
ReplyDeleteFor me waking at 7 is bragworthy! Not a morning person.
ReplyDeleteI can't sleep past five myself, but I do hit the sack quite early most evenings. Nothing is quite as appealing as my warm bed when I'm tired. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've got a 7:45 appointment coming up next week in Asheville. Besides the normal level of pre-dental-anxiety, I will set two alarms, and probably still wake at 4 or so and not be able to go back to sleep. Perhaps after the first alarm though I can snooze a while. Sleep is so funny when related to how our brains work, driving this silly old (mine at least) body around. Back when Gurdgieff wrote about the mind controlling the body, he wrote of a driver above the horses pulling a carriage. Hope that silly cat doesn't claw her virtual human Sue!
ReplyDeleteYes! What I wouldn't have given for an extra hour of sleep this morning.
ReplyDeleteThat cat would make me sneeze and wheeze. 5 hours are the norm for me. I like 5 hours. Any more or less would make me groggy.
ReplyDeleteLook at Sue's beautiful skin! What a pretty complexion. As for sleep, the other night I got 6 consecutive hours. Amazing! I am glad you are sleeping a bit better.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's all relative. 6 hours seems to be what I need and what I get for sleep. I guess we are all different. Some people do need less, some more. Pixie likes to sit on the chair back by my head also
ReplyDeleteHaaahaa relative indeed. Remember when we thought our ages were so old, we wondered why people that ancient even got up in the morning at all? Haahahaha xoxo
ReplyDeleteI usually get about 6 hours but would love to do 7. If it turns out to be 5 I feel out of sorts a bit during the day.
ReplyDeleteI would be thrilled with four straight hours. Waking at 6 sounds great to me!
ReplyDeleteI think that's a stuffed cat on Sue's head. Or else it had too much coffee. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThat stuffed cat looks funny.
ReplyDeleteSue and you should do those filters again. They made me smile! The older we get, the more elusive a long stretch of sleep becomes. It's almost like we revert to babies.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but that cat does not look real.
ReplyDeleteI don't want a cat on my head, but I would rather have that cat on my head say, rather than a mountain lion. So you are right, it is all relative!
ReplyDeleteI like the cat on head photo!
ReplyDelete5 hours is “functional” as far as sleep for me, although I would really want 7-8. But I hate to go to bed before 11:30 (reading usually until then) and I usually have to get up at 4:30 or close to it if I have any hope of getting my damnable run in befor heading to the U. So, I try as best as I can to “make do”.

It always helps to put on your thinking cat.
ReplyDeleteI was awake 2 - 4! I hear you.
ReplyDeleteAC, thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog the other day. That is very thoughtful of you. Your visits and comments make me want to keep on blogging.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of sleep . . . I'm not an early morning person so what helps me drag myself out of bed is thinking/planning how soon I can get back to bed...to sleep.
Let's hope this is the beginning of a trend for you. Ditto with various cats on the heads of your photo subjects.
ReplyDeleteLizzie is a bed hog and i don't know how she does it but I'll find myself all moved over and she's in my spot! I've been waking way too early since the time change and can't seem to "fall back" well.
ReplyDeleteI've had myself a rough night.
