Second Colour Expedition, Part 3

Our colour-drive to Clayton ended with a stop at the Guthrie United Church Cemetery in Clayton, or just outside, I imagine.

I was taken with these partly-concrete benches. They look built to last but not for people to last sitting on them for very long.

As you can see above, there were numerous trees in their autumn colours. I tried a few compositions, but this is the only photo that really worked for me. The colour is great and the fence line provides additional interest.

There is an old-fashion general store in Clayton. You may find such stores where you live, but they are pretty scarce in these parts. It's little inside, but they have gas pumps, a post office, food, wine and spirits, fishing equipment, and baking. Sue bought some local honey, and we both bought a little baked goodie, which we took to the boat launch.

At the boat launch there was an extremely uncomfortable-looking stone bench. Surely, there is a story behind this, but ooh, my back and bottom.

It's good that we got out when we did, for the weather has not been great ever since. It is raining abundantly on this Thursday. I hope we get out for one more drive while some colour remains.

The stone bench looked uncomfortable and in a curious location, but the expedition again provided some glorious colors.

I really loved that in the UK, little post offices were tucked away at the back of little shops. Is that the norm for them in your neck of the woods as well?

@Debby. Definitely NOT the norm in my experience, but maybe there are a lot in little hamlets like this that I don’t get to.

Rain here last night and today. We've gotten almost 3 inches. All the colorful leaves are coming down. Glad I had a chance to capture them earlier this week. Now I need time to post them.

Headstones and benches give an interesting juxtaposition to the organic lines of the colorful trees, just as that fence did. I've seen little stores here in small communities with a post office window...here in the US. But wine and spirits are a touch I'd not noticed. Love all your tree photos, sorry the rain may make it difficult to find more.

Our leaves are now changing as well. Cooler weather and maybe bring a cushion to sit on a bench and ponder.

The blasts of autumn colours around are so beautiful. The sun has come out here this afternoon.

Cemeteries can be so beautiful in the fall. Love that bridge and the general store is a wonderful spot!

Lovely fall colours. We're now at the stage of how long can it last.

The benches under the canopy of autumn leaves look certainly impressive! Artistic

The photo with the fence is great! I too love those country stores. Do they not want people to curl up on them to sleep? Also, there would be no upkeep.

Thank you for sharing all your beautiful fall colors with us. I do miss seeing them in person. Hmmmm.... those benches do not look very comfortable.
