In the Park: Beginnings and Endings

On a little photoshoot in the park on a fine Thanksgiving Day, Sue met a young friend and her brand new fiancé. We talked before we all went on our way. A little later I was just taking a photo along a path. There was a couple in the distance. It turned out to be them again, returning from their walk while we were taking pictures.

The following two images are the same photo, but the first iteration is cropped more tightly to show the couple better. The second is the original uncropped version.

As the couple begins their lives together, this old tree looks to be nearing its end. It has stood by the water and shown its beauty for many decades,  but its days seem to be coming to a close. It's taken some hits, lost some branches, and no longer bears many leaves. I hope it has a few years left.

  2. Your colors are way ahead of ours here in Nashua, NH, because my Sunday walk in the park yielded some colors but way more to go. I also hope that aged tree has more life to go and the stories it could only tell of folks sitting on that bench.

  3. Lovely fall pictures. Our NJ trees are barely beginning to turn color, few cold nights yet.

  8. Beautiful fall colors. That tree is leaning over so that it appears that it has too much to bear and is very tired.

  10. I find the tree (trunk especially) in the last image quite thought provoking.

  14. That tree has seen better days, but is still hanging in. I wish it many more years of life.

  16. If the tree is dying it is doing so gracefully.
