The Town of Bedrock

We are a fast growing town with subdivisions going up all over the place. In fact it is too fast with too many subdivisions.

However, maybe we should be called Bedrock because it lies very close to the surface.

This is a rock pile from excavating one subdivision and there is another just like it right behind. The two images, below, are from the one photo. I just cropped the first version to, hopefully, show the rock more clearly.

That's a lotta rock, and to repast, there's anther pile behind this one.

Now, please hum The Flintstones ditty with me, will ya?

  4. I wonder that they don't have difficulties with installing septic tanks--or perhaps all is done with sewers and water treatment plants.

  5. Canada is a really different country for sure. It seems so strange that most of your population is situated along your southern border with so much emptiness to the north. I understand the why but have never seen another country quite like it.

  8. What's the rock? Wondering if you're in the laurentian shield? Here's summoning up your geography knowledge as a former teacher.

  9. That's a BIG hunk of rock! My house sits in a development where a quarry used to be. So, digging holes for anything is a challenge.

  12. Why do they have to dig out so much material for a subdivision.

  14. Is this soft or could it be turned into gravel?

  17. Your photos reminded me of areas in Alberta, but they were natural occuring mounds of rock. And if doug ford has his way, there will be a lot more digging!
