Photo of the Fifth

We were out bright and early this morning, cycling up to the spot where Sue takes her fifth-of-the-month photo. We chose this spot because it is near the road, and so many places are not very accessible in winter. As is plain to see, however, there was no snow in January although there was later in April.

Part of the reason for cycling was to get our bikes in the picture, just for a different touch. We can't see them well, but they are there.

We headed out at 8 to beat the heat of the day. It is not super hot here, but it is hot enough, and Sue suffers tremendously from the heat.

Once we had biked to the park, which is close to the house, we continued along the trail. It was still fairly cool in the shady parts, but we still heated up quite a lot by the time we got back home.

At one stopping point, Sue took a selfie. I looked perplexed because she snapped it unexpectantly. I also grabbed a photo of the river through the trees and bushes.

At our turn-around spot on the bridge, we noticed purple loosestrife growing right in the middle of the river. The roots were right in the water.

Look across the upper third of the frame to see the flowers.

It was a slog. The whole day has been a slog. It made sense when I checked my sleep app later, and it reported that I only got 4 hours of sleep last night.

  1. You do indeed look perplexed. 🙂

But, I am perplexed about your t-shirt….. it says, I think “Photography (or maybe just “Photograph” )“because….. “ and I wonder what the rest says.

  2. It looks like a nice day. I also cannot tolerate heat. Humidity real knocks me out. Sue surprised you with the selfie!

  3. If you exercise or exhaust enough during the day, the sleep will usually improve with that. Nice to get a dosage of sun too

  4. Ah ha, no artificial smile for you there! The heat and humidity are right up there, though we did have rain while I napped this afternoon. Afterwards, still hot and humid!

  5. You look like I do when it's too hot and I haven't had enough sleep. Good for both of you for taking the bikes out! John and I need to do more of that.

  6. Keep on getting up early. Keep on cycling. You get many photo ops that way. You even get an old guy who looks a little mixed up.

  8. What a pretty river scene. Sue looks happier than you at that point.

  9. Such a great idea to do photos on the same day every month in the same place!

  10. I should get a sleep app but I'm afraid of what I'd find! Even though it was a slob, it looks like a lovely way to spend the morning together!

  13. You are both so good about staying active and getting your exercise. We're leaving for Chicago in a couple of weeks. I have my fingers crossed that it won't be too hot too.
