Almonte Waterfalls

On the same morning from the same vantage point as for the reflections which I posted yesterday, there were a few little waterfalls to photograph.

Our [Canadian] Mississippi River wends its way to Almonte once it leaves this town. There is quite a drop in elevation at Almonte, and there has long been some diversion to a power plant. Recently a second hydro electric plant has been constructed. This diverts even more water, but, in essence, has created mini falls where the water flows past the diversion barrier and over the rocks.

There are a few spots where the water trickles over, but with a telephoto lens, they can look impressive. I guess it is fortunate that the water isn't too high right now, so that the three little sections show up distinct from each other.

Great water photos. There is something mesmerizing about waterfalls. We use to search out waterfalls in our region with the help of a book written by George Fischer.

Despite having less water those falls look impressive.
Your reflection photos from yesterday were really neat.

Hydro electricity is a good thing and makes for pretty waterfalls.
