The day after (link) spending some time of\n the trail, we headed to Riverside Park. I was sure that we would find colour, but this sapling is close to all there was in the whole park. However, you can see the change beginning in the trees in the background.
We were there at school lunch hour, the high school being on the edge of the park. This is not a great photo, but how lucky are the students who can do this at lunchtime?
Finally, for today, there was a non-student fishing from the bank on this very fine day.
It was the kind of autumn day that we cherish even though the colour was not yet splendiferous .

Our autumn is going much the same way. Beautiful skies and temperatures but thus far, not a lot of color change. There have been a few leaves falling on breezy days.
The colour seems slow in coming this year.
I recall the pointed arguments our High School had about open lunches that allowed the students to leave the school grounds at lunch.
Those photos of the kids by themselves are poignant. That is how I felt most of High School. I had friends, but none that I cared to hang out with much!

I read that color change is slower this year because of the drought. Doesn't make sense to me, but what do I know?
The kids by themselves on their phones...bet they have girlfriends at a different school!
They are fortunate to be able to be outside in this beauty during lunch. I think so many teens feel alone during those years.
They are lovely photos. Sometimes being alone in nature is exactly what we need--at any age!
That shot with the student alone is sweet and sad at the same time.
