They Are Much More Than Weird

October 2016: Sue and I are driving back from an autumnal vacation at the cottage. CBC is on the radio, and they are interviewing Frank Schaffer. I've mentioned him here recently and already linked to one of his videos.

Back 2016, Trump was running for election. I didn't know much about him except that he was not a good candidate. In this CBC interview, Shaeffer exposed Trump and how awful and dangerous the man was.

Schaefer was right then, and he's right now when he exposes present-day Republicans.

Recently, the Left has been calling Trump and his minions weird, but Frank goes beyond that in this video, and he does so powerfully. He reacts strongly to the GOP for making fun of a man, Tim Walz, who made sanitary products available to school girls.

He goes beyond calling them weird by adding the noun perverts. Listen for less than 12 minutes, and see if you don't agree.

This is not a political blog, so I promise not to go on and on, but I am impressed by this strong statement. We can lean left or lean right, and that is okay, but the right, especially, has done more than lean lately, and is not exactly covering itself in honour and glory.

These things were also exposed on MeidasTouch and talked about. Why it isn't discussed on mainstream media is very disappointing.
As a woman who grew up getting 'new' rights which included the right for my mom to have a credit card, for me to get the pill... and so many other things. I am disgusted by what DJt started and that movement.

I now fear for the rights of my grandchildren, my grand daughters.

The time has come for women of all colors and all ages to stand behind what is right. We are not second class citizens.
We won't go back.

Tell it like it is, brother! He puts it in perspective!

I don't even have to listen to this to know that I agree. JD Vance has suggested the police keep menstrual records on women. Bill Barr says that enforcing a code of ethics on the Supreme Court would purge the court of conservatives (!!!!). Project 2025 is chock ablock full of plans for our nation and I'll be damned if I can find anything that aligns with MY plans for my grandchildren's futures. The Atlantic had a very good article on why tRUMP's rants are not funny. We should not be laughing. They display a very dangerous man.

I hear you. I am so disgusted with politics in this country. This man nails it.

I can only hope that the Orange Mussoini is not reelected.

The Atlantic had a very good article on why tRUMP's drivel has crossed a line. He is not funny. He is not entertaining. He's a very dangerous man. Project 2025 is a scary plan that does not align with my view of this country's future. JD Vance wants police to keep menstrual records. Bill Barr states that enforcing a code of ethics on the Supreme Court will purge the conservative members. (!!!!) Stephen Miller claims that the January 6th participants are patriots who should be freed. Never before in the history of my nation have the enemies of this nation been so clear...and so near.

Poor Republicans. They've certainly gotten themselves into it now! Those who are dictating the leadership and creating these puppets have an agenda which is beyond scary. And the puppet masters are not the candidates, but I'm pretty sure are billionaires with their feet up dangling the strict Christian-right ideals as long as they keep their money. Think of five year plans, or 10 or 15 years. They must be stopped NOW.

Worldwide the far right is beginning to be recognised as dangerous and to be avoided. Thankfully.

I'm old enough to know what it is like to be under a male thumb. I have no intention of being a husbands property again. The rot in the minds of the supporters of these perverts is difficult to believe, impossible to understand. How does that person get elevated to Messiah? If young women vote, they lose.

As the Orange One seeks an alliance with Musk, it's more and more obvious who matters to him and the GOP. (Hint: Not the average folks.)

Nothing is that bizarre once I learnt US politics and drama

the right is not leaning toward people. People need things which are handled by governments.

The GOP used to be somewhat moderate (at least in my state); now they've pledged their lives to an amoral idiot and prostituted their ethics, morals and good sense to crazy extremists. I used to vote for the occasional Republican but will never do so again.

Likewise impressed. As a centrist, I have leaned left and right over the years, but I don't recognize most of the right anymore.

Thank you for posting this. It's less a matter of taking our country back than it is of keeping them off our human rights.

I think you expressed this 100% perfectly. It's a pleasure to know you sir. Your head is on straight.

AC, thanks for the comment today. You are so right, tidbits are not what we do, maybe this & that would have been a better choice.

That sea change is amazing. I think Harris/Walls will win!

Thank you AC for posting this. A strong, clear statement that hopefully reaches many many people.

From my own country of residence - The Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 places duties on local authorities and education providers to make period products obtainable free of charge for anyone who needs to use them. Building on existing voluntary policies, the Act ensures that everyone in Scotland who menstruates can have reasonably convenient access to period products, free of charge, as and when they are required.
