The monitor was finally delivered yesterday afternoon — three days after it could have conceivably arrived (as predicted by Best Buy) but two days before it's projected date (by Purolator). After finishing the last ten minutes of the latest episode of Midsomer Murders, we got into it.
I called up several photos to see how they looked, and they looked good and better than the snapshot records.
You have seen several versions of this ↓ photo in the past, but I hadn't processed this take, so did a very quick edit, and this is how it looks.
One final photo checking out another old photo: Sue staged the monitor certificates. The crazy thing is that the keyboard is from two computers ago. I liked it better than the keyboards that came with the previous computer and with this newest computer. That is another thing that must be updated and soon — maybe just after New Years.
As you can see, I am getting back into circulation, albeit slowly.
It's definitely wonderful! Just what you need. I kick myself that I didn't pay the extra to get hi-def screen when last purchasing a laptop. This one drives me bonkers with photos...so I don't complain, just know what I send out is not of a par with what people are able to see on their better screens. So glad it was there earlier than predicted...and easy to set up! Congrats to the new papa!
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice holiday gift to yourself, AC, and why now have splurged on something that gives you and all of us great pleasure when you share your photos. It is indeed harder for me to post from a tablet, which is why when we are on the road, blog commenting can get behind a bit. Glad you are back in the game and happily so.
ReplyDeleteOur best wishes to you and Sue and family for a very Merry Christmas season and all the best in the coming New year.
I'm glad you're back and happy with the new monitor. It looks impressive.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Your patience and determination paid off. As we get older, it seems more important to get what we want because if not now, when? Enjoy your new setup! I was happy to see your comments this morning.
ReplyDeleteI have not been around a curved computer monitor but I have seem more than one curved television screen and I've always wondered why people buy those things? I think you made the right choice by trading it back for what you ended up with.
ReplyDeleteI have always just stored the keyboard that comes with a computer as a spare and used one that I have purchased from a different vendor. That keyboard lasted for two or three computers and finally failed last year so I'm using the one of the spares, that came with a previous computer. I don't like it near as much but I decided since this computer is getting long in the tooth, I would wait until it is replaced, and see if the new keyboard can work better or if I need to spare it and buy another one again.
A very impressive Santa gift! (col). Have fun with the big pictures.
ReplyDeleteCurved? I'm not familiar with those, but I'm glad you went with flat. The photos look spectacular on it. Yay for AC back in business!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you have the tools you need! Isn't it interesting the choices we make with our photographs? We really impose our personality on the things we have chosen to shoot. Always interesting. Thank you for sharing. Aloha!
ReplyDeleteBuying technology is always thrilling for me
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see you back in business. Looking forward to your next wonderful posts. ;-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice!!! Glad it arrived a “bit” earlier than worst case scenario.
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity, as I am not knowledgeable about current monitors…. but it used to be that there were gizmos you would buy if you wanted as true-to-actual printouts as possible devices folks bought to check/adjust light and color levels of their monitors back in the “old days” of perhaps 10-15 years ago when I was attempting to get better at photo editing. Are these gizmos still a thing now? Or do quality monitors like this new one you have, do all the adjusting internally without human guidance?
PipeTobacco
Thanks for the question, Pipe. This monitor supposedly came calibrated, and I have to say that it sure looks like it is or close enough.
ReplyDelete@Ed. I purchased a fairly upscale computer, but the keyboard seemed flimsy and cheap.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a new picture tube!
ReplyDeleteThose photos look spectacular, so it must be a very good screen. have at it.
ReplyDeleteLooks fancy.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it is working well!
ReplyDeleteYay you're back, and WOW your pictures really pop on that new monitor! I'm glad you upgraded because there's cost and then there's value and it's good to know the difference. Midsomer Murders ... love that show. xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt looks very complicated. Even your description is complicated! But glad you're sorted.
ReplyDeleteI have a 27" monitor, which is good enough, but yours looks really big. Cool gadget.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good to my old eyes! Congratulations on getting back into the groove.
ReplyDeleteA new monitor is a fine thing!
ReplyDeleteWell, happy new monitor! Good to see you getting back on the horse!
ReplyDeleteI do love having a bigger monitor. Yay for you! I'm glad you're enjoying your new equipment.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about blogging until you are ready. I've been having to take more breaks lately too. I'm so glad you're feeling a little better.
A good thing to get. Did Lacey get the box?
