Feast after Famine

It had been 8 months between sales, but as you know, I recently sold 5 framed prints. And now, lo and behold, someone else has purchased another 5. It may be another 8 months or even never before my next sale. Who can know?

This was a private sale, so without having to pay commision or reinvest in new frames (I just sold the actual prints this time), I take home a few more $. That is rather appreciated because I will soon need to invest >$100 in photo paper. That's what a package of 50 costs. After expenses, this hobby doesn't really yield much, but it still pleases me to do this.

  1. Your photos are WAY above the ordinary ... no wonder you make sales but I'll bet if you did some marketing you'd be flooded with buyers. As you know I was married to a fine photographer who was part of the LIFE magazine staff and he certainly had the "EYE" so I know it when I see it. I SEE IT IN YOU ... the 4 pictures in this blog entry are proof positive !

  2. I totally agree with Ginnie’s assessment of your photographic skills, John. Thanks for sharing the good news about the sales, and yes I know how it goes about reinvesting in more supplies. The images you sold were outstanding.

  6. Your photos almost make me embarrassed about my own simple snapshots! but not really ... I don't aspire to photographic greatness ... but yours are lovely. -Kate

  7. Beautiful shots! They look like oil paintings. If I had space for them, I would buy a couple. As it is, I have too much art. Good luck with future sales.

  8. Beautiful! May I ask... do you do your own printing because you have some greater control over the look of the final product? I was just wondering because it *seems* some of the online services do a great job of printing exactly what you send them... (at least things I have sent in). Do you see your own printing of your work leads to additional quality? Just curious because I know how expensive good home printing is to do, especially with inevitable printer malfunctions.

  9. I love all of these! I thought for sure a certain one was my favorite, until I saw the next one. I think the flooded tree photo is otherworldly. Congratulations on your sales, but more importantly, on your enjoyment of your hobby, for which you are extremely gifted.
