When the snow fell, I decided that I should get to town hall if ever I were to make a dent in my project for the year. With snow on the roof and hardly anywhere else on the building, I was definitely looking upward through the camera. In post edit, I converted all of the photos to a non-contrasty monochrome to suit the snowy day, but I left the flag colourized.
I like 1, 3 and 5 best and it that order.
My resolve is to return with my telephoto lens after another snowfall to try to pick out details on the roof. We shall see what we shall see.
How patriotic of you! Well, if it's not the intent, it certainly says that to me. I do like the B&W details, which always show texture so well.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn’t intent, but I’m okay with that take. 😀
DeleteI'm glad to see the Canadian flag is flying high and proud - long may it continue!
ReplyDeleteThat is the plan.
DeleteYour flag is my favorite flag of any country I've ever seen. Simple, nicely designed and it always looks good and uncluttered. See how well it shows, even on a cloudy day?!
ReplyDeleteAnd yet i was contentious at the time — as is the way with things. My conservative friend did not approve, I guess he want the Union Jack somewhere on the flag.
DeleteI really like them all.
ReplyDeleteThanks, but I won’t include them all in my project: too many similar images.
DeleteFun! I like it. Another cool detail is that I can see the time you spent there!
ReplyDelete;)
That first shot is my fav. But they are all fun.
I will be interested to see what you do with a telephoto lens!
We were away visiting family when the first measurable snow fell in Nashua, NH, a mere 2 inches last weekend. However, another snowfall is predicted for this coming Sunday overnight, so hopefully snow photos will be in future. I've been enjoying yours.
ReplyDeleteYou got some good photos. Your flag can fly proud.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, I like the color on the flag!
ReplyDeleteI like 3 or 4 the best. I love the pop of flag color! Several years ago I got a similar shot in New York of snow (not modified) with the fluorescent color of a street sign. You liked the photo as I recall.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting old building!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see these beautiful photos, William. Nice to see a friendly flag nearby as a beacon of sanity, even though I know you have your fools as well. Aloha and best wishes!
ReplyDeleteLovely contrast!
ReplyDeleteLove that last one…unusual…
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. I love how the flag color "pops" and draws your eye to it!
ReplyDeleteAnother good set of pix.
ReplyDeleteI like the contrast...but I do think it will work better if the flag dominated in the photograph more.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to do that with the lens that I had at the time and shooting up at distance from street level.
DeleteI don't know how you colorize just one part of the photo. I'm going to have to ask my brother to explain it to me. This is so cool. I hope the weather warms up for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a striking approach! The monochrome effect with the flag still in colour really adds a powerful focal point, especially against the backdrop of the snowy scene. It’s amazing how small details, like the flag, can stand out so strongly in such a serene and quiet setting.

Lots of wind, eh? I like the monochrome, although shooting up can be a pain in the neck. The looking upward result is not my favourite either. Not sure why, but maybe because there is distortion regardless of how you frame.
ReplyDeleteI like these a lot--especially that proud flag.
ReplyDeleteThat building is quite distinctive.
