We still went for our daily walk, and without wind, it was actually quite pleasant. You may not believe that, but it's the wind that is the killer. Mind you, we were well bundled and not exactly in shorts and tees.
For whatever reason, I decided that yesterday was the day to video our expedition, largely because I knew that the snow would be very crunchy underfoot in the cold, and I thought that some of you would like to hear that.
Videoing meant hands out of mitts, so I kept the clips really short before I would get the mitts back on. Of course, my hands got downright cold anyway, and then the batteries in my heated mitts failed. Sue leant me one-half of one of her own handwarmers, but I was still happy enough to get my frozen digits back to the car.
The video is about 1 minute and 40 seconds. The clips are unedited, other than being strung together. There was a time when I wouldn't do a vertical video, but it is now cool, thanks to Instagram and other social media platforms. In this case, it seemed to suit going along the trail.
I hope you'll walk with us.
I hope this posted okay. It’s not quite 4 o’clock, and I am huddled in my chair under a blanket. I’ve had my first coffee. The house was 15C before I turned the heat up
Right now it is -11 degrees below the "old zero" though with the wind, it feels like -22 F! It is days like today that I'm thankful for my love of genealogy which keeps me in a warm office in my basement.
ReplyDeleteIt's colder there than here. It's a little below the old zero early this morning -- about -4F when I got up in the wee hours.
DeleteI am hiding in the house with temperature soaring to 40 degrees Celsius today here. Airconditioning in full force.
ReplyDeleteI would too, I assure you. And I will do just that come June into September.
DeleteI loved it! Thanks for taking me along on your chilly walk. The crunching snow is music to my ears and...it was nice to hear your voice!
ReplyDeleteI agree, those winds came make the difference in the weather. It is cold cold and below cold here this morning. We may get above zero F today and that will be a break from the bitter stuff!
Thanks again.
We don't usually get quite as cold as you do. Glad you are warming up a bit. We're still below 0F by a few degrees.
DeleteThe outside temp in Nashua, NH, is about 4 degrees above 0 as I tyoe this comment, but as you noted the wind is what makes it seem coldfer and there is none here now. Enjoyed the walk and the commentary.
ReplyDeleteWe're about 4 below.
DeleteOh, your voice! It's very good for voiceovers, but I hadn't thought of it like this. Now I think I know you better.
ReplyDeleteI sing lower than I talk. I talk more at the upper range. I don't like that I do that. Oddly enough, grandson talks at his lower range.
DeleteFlip, that must be cold!
ReplyDeleteMy hands certainly got cold when I had my mitts off, and my nose was also feeling it by the end. My core was warm.
DeleteThe light in between the footbridges is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed hearing your voice, AC. It sounds so cold with all that scrunching! No wind makes it bearable though.
ReplyDeleteTo repeat my reply to Boud. I sing lower than I talk. I talk more at the upper range. I don't like that I do that. Oddly enough, grandson talks at his lower range.
DeleteLack of wind, and that SUN! The warmth soaking through all the clothes on the side facing it! A very "scrunching" walk on a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteSun and scrunch made a dynamic duo. 😊
DeleteThe wind is the killer! The 4 years I spent in the Bay area in Northern California were enough to convince me to stay in Hawaii for the rest of my life! I'm impressed that you're keeping up your exercise with these conditions. Best wishes to you both! Aloha
ReplyDeleteI loved the video! Your weather is much like ours -- we are 2F here this morning and that snow is crunching just the same. You're spot on about the wind -- that wind chill will do it to you every time. Not too bad today but it feels colder than 2! A wonderfully atmospheric video! It's fun to see the spots you walk "in motion!"
ReplyDeleteWonderful to hear you! We were -20 F overnight. We will get above zero for the first time is a few days today and then it stays that way. For awhile anyway. We had some wicked winds for a couple of days, today is calm. Why did those europeans decide to settle here? Thanks for the walking tour.
ReplyDeleteGreat videos, fun to hear the very crunchy snow as well as your voice! Couldn't tell anything was shaky at all. It's up to 19 F here now...won't even get up to freezing today. Maybe tomorrow! Your poor fingers! I know that was a supreme sacrifice for your audience!
ReplyDeleteI do love the sound of crunching snow and it's interesting to hear someone's voice when you only know them from the blog. I have a deep voice--which I hate hearing on videos so I'll probably never post one. That sounds VERY cold to me, both inside and out. Glad you turned up the heat!
ReplyDeleteAt -17 wind chill in Kansas, we stay inside. Had to turn on my space heater to help the wall heaters. I'm on a concrete slab but no structure above. No more snow predicted. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed that. Don't you wonder how the ducks keep from freezing! Is this a different trail? I don't remember so much boardwalk before.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to hear your voice! The video was so enjoyable and the crunching on the snow was delightful. It sounded like an army marching - I hope you 'broke step' across the bridge.😎
ReplyDeleteVariety increases the interest. Well, done.
ReplyDeleteYour voice is quite soothing! The crunchy sounds….. regrettably similar to our region at the moment too. Your voice has a similar timber to it but is more melodious as the fellow who plays as “Red Green”… and I mean that as a compliment.
ReplyDeletePipeTobacco
This is so cool! Well, cold too, but how nice to hear your voice, AC. And what a pleasant place to walk. You are tougher than I will ever be, out and filming at 0°.
ReplyDeleteFriggin' cold out here tonight. Ah well. January in eastern Ontario. Not Prairie level, but miserable. What I remember is my years in Kingston and the wind off the lake. Ew.
ReplyDeleteIt's been cold indeed.
