About the Woodlands I Will Go

Almost immediately after writing yesterday's post, I was proven wrong about two things. I don't know why it took so long. :)

Unexpectedly, the snow guy showed up toute de suite to clear the driveway. They don't guarantee to clear us out if the snowfall is less than 2"/5cm. But sometimes, they come by anyway, so I wasn't totally shocked.

The other thing was about Sha being back to work and Jonathan being back to school. Both things were true, but I was soon getting messages to see if I might be able to pick up JJ, for he had tossed his cookies, as some might say. This stomach issue seems to be his weak spot, and this was not the first time or even the second time that I been asked to help the boy like this. He once heaved away between the school door and the car. I'm glad he didn't wait a minute longer.

Poor Jonathan, but it was good for me, for when I passed the park, I saw that it would be a good day to make photos, for the snow was on the trees. I've seen it better than this, but this was pretty darn good.

I hurried home and told Sue about the photo opportunity that lay waiting for us. Synchronisticly (not a word, apparently) and serendipitously, her theme for the week is White, so the opportunity suited both of us. Here are three of mine; there will be more in the days to come, but these will suffice for the nonce. The photos reflect the dull but yet soft and pretty day that it was.

  1. Love how the snow highlights the curve of that trunk.

  2. They're beautiful, especially your second photograph. It's so serene and peaceful and there's a lovely contrast between the tones of the trees and the snow.

    1. I think it looks best here at least. I sometimes have different impressions than before when I see them on Blogger.

  5. Oh this is so beautiful and I am jealous of your beautiful snow. We had a dusting of snow. That last bench shot is so stunning.

  6. If I had to choose a favorite it would be 3. The bench all alone has la lovely yet melancholy feeling. We are all wrong once, or twice, in our lives!

  7. Do you have all four seasons for that tree bending over the water (your last photo)? I'd like to see it if you do.

    1. I probably do scattered here and there. I might be able to pull something together in due course.

  8. Poor JJ, I do so hate throwing up. Thankfully, I do it rarely. Hope he's soon on the mend and can keep his cookies! I love the snow on that leaning over trunk. Beautiful!

    1. Today, I picked him up after school to take him to work. Poor boy had fallen asleep. I don't think he will enjoy this shift.

  11. I like these, especially the first one. That little bit of green on the bench seems to give it a tiny bit of extra pzazz.

  14. Those are such beautiful photos. Really so magical, even romantic.
I have some questions. (1) what does the expression "tossing his cookies" mean? and (2) why do you italicise certain words - is it to denote a colloquialism or some latinate?
Also, I'm a bit of an amateur word boffin. You said "synchronisticly" ... what do you think of the words simultaneously, or contemporaneously, or correspondently, or even for the sake of the randomness, collaterally ...

    1. I like fiddling around with words too.

tossing his cookies would mean vomiting, barfing

I do what I do for various reasons that suit me at the time.
      (1) is a French phrase, so according to what I understand, it should be italicized
      (2) White is like a title in this case, so close enough
      (3) I brought attention to it because, its an old term, like Shakespearian

I was thinking in terms of harmony for synchronisticly. It feels different than the other choices to me.

I looked it up: "Synchronistically means in a way that is related to synchronicity, or in a way that is in time correspondence. Synchronicity is a concept that describes coincidences that seem to have a deeper meaning, even though there is no obvious cause and effect."

But I thought I tried that spelling, and it got redlined, so I went with what I went with. 😊

    2. Haha. Very good. Nice word synchronicity.
It's a habit of mine. I think it comes from reading some poetry and being curious why some bits are italise. I like the fact that you do it, and you don't have to have a reason. I suppose it depends on the moment, kind of thing. It certainly make something stand out.
