Goodbye Sid

The kids came to our house in tears yesterday. Their mother dropped them off on her way to take Sid to the vets. The old cat was unhealthy, and it was time to let him go. What made it a little harder was that it was a snow day, so the kids were home. They had known that it was coming, but it is still very hard.

In the morning, Sha had sent me some photos and asked if I would print some for the kids. So I made a quick 8x10 collage.

  1. It's so hard to say goodbye to a friend. We have found the best comfort in grieving is adopting a shelter pet who will be ever grateful. The new pet won't replace the old one -- nothing can do that. But it kinda fills up that hole in your heart.

  2. So sorry to hear. It's always sad to lose a member of your family and regardless of what some people say: that is what a pet usually becomes!

  3. I am so sorry to read this. Pets are part of ones family. I am still missing my little dog Bo who died nearly three years ago.

  4. I dread the day when we have to say goodbye to the grandkids’ dog. Pets are an important part of the family.

  9. Ah, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Good for you to let Sid go. There comes a time. Hubby, with cancer, and I have talked about end-of-life and suffering.

  10. Hard to make the decision, hard to lose the pet, so beautiful and white, but a good thing to do. I wish we had the same choice for ourselves.
