Betwixt and Between

Betwixt and Between:
between two positions, choices, or ideas; not really one thing or the other.

Since the surgery I have been a Betwixt and Between sorta guy.

When I am awake, trying to read or watch something or other, my eyes tend to close, and my mouth may drop open. And then I might hear myself doing that ugly snorting and snoring sort of thing.

Then, since I am seeming to be falling asleep, I put away whatever it is that I am doing, and I try to settle into a resting position. Suddenly, I am no longer drifting off. While I might snooze for a few seconds, I don't really sleep.

It's like I can't not sleep but also like I can't sleep. Call me Mr In-Between. (Song here 1962 by Burl Ives that I had forgotten until I wrote out the name.)

Thankfully, I have still usually been able to sleep for my typical five hours at night, but I seem to spend most of the rest of the day in that forever betwixt and between mode. I feel sleepy, but I can’t sleep.

I wish that I could either be wide awake or fast asleep and not trapped in this betwixt and between state, but such has not been my lot just lately.

Hopefully, it will change soon, for I would prefer to be one or t'other and not neither nor.

Hoping this interim period is over soon, very soon!

Yep, there you are, hanging onto wakefulness while almost asleep, and back the otehr way...like a ping pong ball. I'd also forgotten the Burl Ives song...he did Rudolph too I think. Without your ability to run around in your normal amount of exercises (bending at least to capture those micro images) you're definitely deprived of oxygen to your brain. I'm going to go with that...which is how I also often feel befuddled.

Yes, my man and I do much the same, depending a lot on what the night before has been.
Hope you are recovering and will be catherless (eh?) soon. If you can get out and about more, the sleep thing will be less, or so we find.
Hey, the sun is out just now and the sky is a fine blue with white clouds. May there be no more smoke and ash!

That would be a frustrating limbo to be in when you want to be either asleep or awake. Hope it resolves soon!

Sounds like you need a sleep study done. Your symptoms (besides the catheter) reek of needing a CPAP machine. When I "flunked" my sleep study, I swore I didn't sleep at all. Turns out I did, but didn't breathe one-fourth of the time! No oxygen isn't good for the brain, heart, or any body part. AFTER the catheter circus, ask a pulmonologist to recommend a sleep study place. No, Sue can't join you during the sleep study. My simple quiet CPAP helps A LOT! Linda in Kansas

We spent the morning at Cavendish looking for the Bald Eagles which feed there. Along the trails were forget-me-nots which I always associate with you, AC, and your father, of course. You were on my mind this morning! Take care, my friend!

Your mind is probably bored since you are not up to your usual activities. Hopefully time passes quickly and you will be back to normal.

Yes, I know Burl Ives. But not filmier with that song.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.

You are rather stuck in the middle, but then that is another song title and I can’t recall the artists who performed it.

I'm wondering if a sleep study is called for.

You are in a period of healing, and you are wise to listen to your body and nap when you can. JB went back for a morning nap today. Or was that yesterday? I think it was an afternoon one today. He always sleeps like a log.

That has to be so frustrating. I hope it can get resolved so you can rest when you WANT to!
