Cold in Me 'Ead and Outside Too

When I said in my Sunday post, "I've had worse colds. I even slept fairly well last night. Mind you, it could get worse," I really wasn't expecting the worst. But OMG! What a cold!

I'm now in my third full day. I fully expected to be on the road to recovery when I awoke this morning. Alas, I am not.

I am reading your posts but not commenting too much. Mind you, some posts are very difficult to comment upon. After reading, I am prone to stare blankly at the screen scratch my head in perplexity, and move on, having once again been defeated by my lack of cleverness.

Getting back to colds, I continue to be surprised by how much variance there is in the symptoms from person to person. Sue, for example, has been mostly headachy and coughy (sorry spellcheck, but I'm going with it). OTOH I have been mostly sorethroaty and nosey. However, a dry cough is startling to take hold.

My throat seems to be my weak point. Sometimes I feel as though I could get a hangnail, and one of the concomitant symptoms would be a sore throat.

Blessedly, I suppose, I have managed to sleep fairly well through it all. I did get up horrendously early yesterday, but at least the hours that I did sleep were not fitful.

Meanwhile, Shauna was on her way here with the kids for supper yesterday afternoon when I got a call to pick them up because they had been in an accident. It wasn't their fault, and I think the car can be salvaged, but it is still a bit of a trauma and inconvenience.

The truck tried to make a turn from the left lane while Shauna was in the right lane.

The weather is not exactly cooperating to make anybody feel better although the mercury will inch above freezing today. Maybe millimetre would be more apt.

The long range forecast isn't exactly blazing hot either although by month's end daytime temperatures should consistently rise above freezing.

  1. When I catch a cold from the kids these days, it usually lasts six weeks. They are over it within a week. This ageing business is rotten in so many ways. Then again, many get the chance to age so forget what I just said.

  2. Sending you wishes for good health...I could use a few myself. I am so glad no one was hurt in that accident. Won't it be wonderful when spring is here and everyone is well!

  7. It took me about a week and fortunately I was spared the coughing this time round. Mind you, the headaches and the sniffing was bad enough.

  8. Sorry that you have both succumbed to winter ills and hope recovery is on the ay for you both. Drat about the car crash and thankfully the injuries were to the vehicle and not the passengers in it.

  9. Oh, no. What a shock that is. There have been a fair number of trucks having incidents. Pretty scary.
