Dipping into the Past

Sometimes, I peruse older photos and then decide to re-edit them. Actually, perhaps 'former' would be a better word than 'older' in the first case, below, because there two JJ photos are recent, from his birthday. I decided to convert them to mono, and I probably made other changes too, such as cropping differently.

Then, I found myself looking through a folder from 2019 when a friend and I were taking photos for the town's 200th anniversary. These three were taken at a monster bingo event. It's quite likely that I posted versions of the first two back then, but these are new edits.

Apprehensive Over the Next Call

Resignation over Bad Luck

I enjoy taking candid photos, but I don't get to do it often as I don't have a lot of nerve to be a street photographer, and I haven't attended concerts in awhile.

All fabulous photos. I am never comfortable taking photos of people I don't know. Apprehensive Over the Next Call is, IMO, the best of the candid photos.

These are beautiful portraits, AC. You have an eye for clicking the shutter at the right moment resulting in a thoughtful look inside the soul.

I'm sorry I'm so behind in reading and commenting on blog posts (or anything else, for that matter.) Between company for a week, a Corkie do at Rick's, an ear or sinus infection and the mass shooting, I'm not functioning on any kind of reasonable schedule. I don't know that I'll ever catch up but will try to get on track.

Candid photography is indeed an art form and you have done well with these captures, AC. The so called genre of street photography has always intrigued me as well.

Wonderful shots of the bingo players!

The bingo set up some conditions for good shots.

You do monochrome so very well. I think all of these are excellent.
Playing with how something is cropped is a lot of fun and can have some surprisingly different results. I confess to owning a square that I hold up to my computer screen at times - I have a big screen for graphics and can set up a photo at a standard size. If you then shift t he square around, you can see a dozen good crops in one indifferent shot. Old tech, but then .... I AM old.

Your talent impresses me, often.

You got some great shots. I'm always shy to take shots of people too and tend to do it from far away using zoom.

I like editing old photos as our styles change over time too.
