Now We Have Daffodils

Now We Have Daffodils ... but still potted plants inside, of course. In some years by this time, they might have been beginning to poke above ground but not this year for darn sure. It remains quite cold with almost every night dipping below freezing and daytime temperatures not rising much above. Let's just say that it's been a long winter because this isn't spring to me, and winter also started early last fall.

But flowers can add their own sunshine, even if it's indoors. This must be especially true for yellow daffodils.

When I chose them from the grocery store, I picked the least advanced pot, but even so, the buds soon swelled.

I tried an in-camera double exposure with the same buds. There is a multiple exposure option on some cameras. I like the result well enough after some cropping in post. It's different anyway.

By the next day, we had blooms; I tried another double exposure but it didn't turn out very well. So here are two bloom photos. The same bloom is the subject of both, but the composition as well as the depth of field is different. I like the softness of the first photo, but I also like the greater depth of field of the second. There's no one way to go about photography, and I continue to experiment and perhaps learn ... or perhaps not given my advanced years and declining mental acuity.  😎

I refuse to blame my declining mental acuity on my photography mishaps and declare it is my declining vision!!

Daffodils are the first of our annual spring flowers to bloom this year. And, of course, they got snowed on...but are still thriving.

We have snow outside this morning. Big, lazy flakes. The operative word is 'lazy', as in too sluggish to leave town. Lovely daffs.

Love the final one best, AC.

There is something about daffies! Ours are up about 2 - 3" at the end of the driveway.
