I bought two very inexpensive plants from Giant Tiger, mostly for photographic purposes since they are very small for display purposes. However, they look well enough as an adornment on a side table.
The first is an Africa Violet. Because macro photos have a shallow depth of field, I focused on three different spots and stacked them together in Photoshop. Even three stacked images couldn't get it all in focus, but I like it in general. The colour is really lovely in my opinion.
According to the tag, the other plant is a Polka Dot although it must also have a fancy Latin name. I stacked eight photos this time but still didn't get it all in focus. Once again, however, I am fairly happy with the result.
I don't understand stacking, and truthfully, I don't really understand my old photoshop at all either. I like your shots but am a bit nonplussed by the out of focusness of the violets.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous pics!
ReplyDeleteWonderful blog!

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful image. Your PhotoShop skills are IMO exceptional. Mine are far more rudimentary.... truth be told, mostly I "brighten" the image and/or crop the image... thats about it for what I feel comfortable navigating through. :)
Hoping you are staying warm!

I have no idea what you are doing. That's OK. The Africa Violet is pretty. I actually wrote "African", then backspaced the n. It was African Violet, when I grew up with them, but I'll bet it's changed by now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful takes, AC!
ReplyDeleteHaving given up my ski trips to Colorado and Trout fishing in Grizzly country Montana. I taken up "adult" coloring books especially flowers and tropical birds. Now your gorgeous violets color looked just perfect for a new book I'm starting this afternoon though my real "adventure" today was filling the suet feeder in the back yard with a -55F. windchill in my face...:)
ReplyDeleteI don’t understand what you did but the result is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHave done macro shots, but never stacking. Do you erase the soft focused one and put the in focus flower forward? I know nothing about stacking, maybe I should Utube it?
ReplyDeleteYou do good, patient work! I'm aa bit impatient. Between the danged cats, Bell telephone... the cold.
