Autumn 2016

As we await time and opportunity to photograph this autumn, I have gone all of the way back to 2016 to look at those images. Generally, I strip all previous edits and start processing from scratch. I find that I process more gently now both in terms of colour and softness.

I took all but the final image on the property where we stayed, and the final one on a nearby road.

Who knows what we will see this year, and if it turns out to be little, I have enjoyed looking back and editing them anew in a way that suits my present tastes.

  1. Oooh, that second one is fantastic (IMHO)! So glad you have this resource to play with. And artists do go back and change things, don't they!

  3. These are frameable, AC! I wasn't reading you back then, so they are new to me, and just stunning.

  5. Glorious colours to make the heart sing. I don't know if we'll get much colour this year. Like you, we have photographs from past years to satisfy us.

  10. This is a good idea! I am not optimistic for this year's colour...
I've not been in a Mcdonald's in years, so I'll take your word on the kiosks!

  11. The second shot looks like a cathedral! But these are all gorgeous, AC. The fall is insanely photogenic! I hope I get to take some pictures this year but I'm pretty busy and by the time I'm not, all the leaf color (such as we get) will be gone! And there will be no going to the mountains. The roads are out *sigh* xoxo

  15. I like your photos very much, especially as they help me to experience Autumn vicariously. We do have a fall season here but it is unique like everything else in the islands. One does get nostalgic for the changing colors and the falling leaves and the frosty mornings. I like what you said about reprocessing your photos. I look back over my archives and frequently do use photos from them but always as you say re-cropped and re-treated with a new eye

  16. That fourth picture really captures that golden autumn light, doesn't it. Good job.

  17. You do fine, fine road photos. Sometime, though, you should put both edits in so that the difference you are discussing is shown. Yes, the colour this year is disappointing, but the weather has not been.
