We were off to the rural supply store: not so much for flowers this time, but I decided that I would spend some time in the greenhouse regardless.
I attached my macro lens and put the camera right by the door, so I wouldn't miss it on the way out.
I missed it and had to use my phone.
Actually, it is not always a bad thing to use the phone, and for what I was doing that day, it was probably the best thing. The phone gets me closer to the subject than even my macro lens. It is also light, maneuverable and has a big, clear screen. It is fair to say that a phone, with its significant computer power, produces something closer to a finished image SOOC (straight out of the camera).
The other ↓ photos.
Happy Monday and have a good week.
Glorious blooms! Great shots however you did them.
ReplyDeleteI love those unopened orange flowers. Do you happen to know their name?
ReplyDeleteYou did have a good time! Maybe I should take my phone to the greenhouse too, and just take photos. Think of the money I'd save!
ReplyDeleteI used to buy Coleus (pictured above) in New York. They did very well on my window sill, brightening my home.
ReplyDeleteThe coleus are gorgeous. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteGreat flower pictures. I do like coleus, and keep it going in the house all winter.
ReplyDelete@Debby: Of course, I was too absorbed to bother with the names. Tried to click info on the phone, but I think the pic would have to be the full bloom to ID.
ReplyDeleteColour, colour! I think we appreciate it more after months of monotones. Great shots. (Think the orange guys are gazania.)
ReplyDeleteLove that coleus! I've used my phone too much for pictures and now I'm running out of storage. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat close ups. I'm still learning this new iPhone. One question you can answer for me. When I turn the camera sideways is that wide angle? I got some strange photos that way of a house. The house looked like it was leaning.
ReplyDeleteThese are splendid! The colors! Well done. xoxo
ReplyDeleteMarcia. Sideways is just horizontal mode or what we call landscape. You may or may not have wide angle also enabled. If you do, that may be what is giving you those distortions. Especially when you are shooting w/a hold the camera very level. I don't have the w/a option on my older phone, but if you do, you can select or deselect it below, I think where you see various options like pano, hdr etc.
ReplyDeleteThese blooms were a very colorful way to styart the week, AC. I know what you mean about the phone camera doing perhaps a better job in many cases than an actual camera. I also use both, but more than likely the phone is with me more than the camera.
ReplyDeleteThe phone did a great job with these pics.
ReplyDeleteThe photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNice garden centre photos, and encouraging words about using a phone.
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous. You are right!
ReplyDeleteYou are prompting to give floral photography another go in future
ReplyDeleteThe colour values really rock. Phone does that amazingly well. And the colours in that first shot are just perfect.

ReplyDeleteI am amazed that all the flower in the last photo is in focus...my iPhone won't let me do that...preferring to choose where it will focus, even when I use the little framer thing to say the near petals...often it prefers a higher lighted area. Grrr. These are so great. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteYou found some great color combinations.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
ReplyDeleteThose are smashing, AC. Every single one. The color is fantastic and beautiful composition, as always.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved coleus. I should get some for my garden too. Gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteSome great shots there.
