O Christmas Tree

You may remember photos like this one from last December although I think that I posted them later in the month. The bridge was lit is the red and green Christmas colours.

Sue needed a Christmas lights photo for her group project, so we went again last night. They weren't on, perhaps because we were too early although it was dark at around 5pm.

We did find that the tree at Market Square was lit. I believe that this is the first year for this tree being lit. I know it's not exactly the Rockefeller Center, but it is ours.

I took that ↑ on against a dark western background. Then I turned around ↓ and got the market market pavilion in the background as well as some town lights.

There is something to be said for seeing it in situ even if the background isn't grand.

  5. Beautiful Christmas tree! Just love it. We don't put up a tree in our home. Too much work.

    1. Neither do we really. We have a tiny pre-lit tree as almost a table decoration.

  7. These are both great Christmas tree photos...I can't decide a favorite, and I do like the bridge with the big building behind it too!

    1. I don’t know why the lights weren’t n this time, but Sue also found her photos from last year, so she used one of those, I think.

  8. The lit bridge is beautiful. So is the tree. I put my small tree up this past weekend.

  17. There's a tree lit on our green every night. Dan is responsible for getting the battery from the former store where it charges through the day and plugging it in. Someone else unplugs it in the morning and takes it to charge. I should get a photo of it one of these days.

  18. Prettier than the tree at Rockefeller Center, IMO!

  19. I do enjoy looking at Christmas decorations after dark. When I lived in a more suburban area we'd drive around to find neighborhoods with all the homes decorated. It was so much fun.
The tree looks beautiful from any angle, it brightens the night!

  21. That's cheerful. I think the second one works better. Good for Sue to keep at it. I am going to my photo group without a single photo to show, probably. Sad comment on Covid brain.

  22. Both lovely photographs, but I prefer the starkness of the first, the tree as the only attraction.

  23. I like the last one best. Looking forward to taking a drive soon, just to see the lights.

  24. I like it! It is owning its place and its purpose. I got a pop-up tree this year because I was too exhausted from the wedding to do anything else. Have you heard of pop-up trees? Four short bars go together to make a tall vertical stick and the "tree" goes down over the top kind of like a hoop skirt. Large multicolor spangly paillettes take the place of ornaments and you add a string of lights. Took ten minutes to do. It's over six feet tall and it looks pretty in the front window so I'm happy. xoxo
