Christmas Silliness

While we do not participate in the recent Ugly Christmas Sweater craze, we do get a little crazy in our own ways. Look at the first photo if you don't believe me: big red socks outside my pants.

The kids each got hoodies but wouldn't pose properly, clowns that they are. The stickers were added by Sue in post; the hoodies were plain, otherwise.

We no longer sit down to Christmas Dinner but snack instead, but Shauna passed around crackers anyway. We pulled the crackers and donned our crowns.

While there were many gifts, I will share this unique one. It doesn't fit with the Silly theme, but I want to share it anyway because I don't plan to do any more Christmas posts. (You're welcome.) At the rate that I am going, it will soon be Easter if I don't stop. The kids made a unique gifts for us: a booklet of coupons, which we can redeem at will and more than once too. It was cute, well done, and well received.

Morning Coffee Date, Shovelling, Grocery Run, Yardwork Help,
Danica's Taxi, Making Dinner

We should probably take them up on the morning coffee date, but then they would probably claim that 11:59 meets the criterion.

  1. The coupons are an excellent idea and original. What nice children.

  2. In my boxes of memories I have a coupon book I made for my mom for Christmas. My dad kept it and sent it to me years later.
It was for 'picking up dog poop in the yard'
    'sweeping the kitchen'
'not fighting with my sister for one day'
    'folding socks'
All chores that a second grader hated to do but thought would make great gifts.

These coupons are worth their weight in gold aren't they?
I think I'll post an idea like that on FB next year so my grands and my kids can actually give me a gift I can use!

I love the red socks! I wear some like that when doing chores. No one sees them because I wear coveralls.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing this and making me smile this foggy morning!

    1. It gives me an idea for another post, but it would also have to do with Christmas.

  3. Too bad no Christmas Dinner. It would have been interesting to see what Canadians eat. Otherwise, your family get together was sweet.

    1. They did a good job, including the design, printing and collating.

  6. What fun! We don't do any Christmas anything, other than wishes and hugs.

  7. You have a happy family (and great socks). I really like the coupon idea. Maybe I should give this idea to Mark?

  8. The coupons are a good idea.
We just do treats in our stockings since we don't really need anything.

  9. I love those coupons! The gift of time and service is more valuable than anything else. My socks aren't as tall as yours but I hate the ones that slip down in my shoes. Great photos!

  10. Your feet look nice & warm! I like the relaxed Christmas celebration, ours was the same.

  11. Interesting that you call the devices containing prizes, “Crackers”. We have always called them “Poppers” in our region. I always like it if I am fortunate enough to get an orange or yellow crown….. or if I can trade for one in one of those colors.

  12. Nothing wrong with big red socks outside your trousers! I love the idea of passing around snacks instead of a Christmas meal, so much less work and leftovers are probably easier to eat, too. Happy New Year, when it finally arrives!

  13. That coupon is unbelievable. Well done, Kids! And I love the socks, too. Wish I could talk our gang into a snacking dinner!

  14. You had lots of fun with the gifts given. In the old days many times socks were worn outside your pants.

    1. Oooh. Sue! Make them. You can buy the 'snaps' Tissue paper, a bit of curling ribbon, a toilet paper tube, and you can stuff it with jokes, paper crowns, and small gifts and a candy. It's lots of fun.

  17. Danica looks like she is about to kick some serious butt in her hoodie picture! 'Dangerous Danica' - is that her street name? It looks like Christmas was fun, and that coupon book was a wonderful idea.

  18. Coupons are such great gifts for older people. I used to pay for a year's haircuts for my mom and gave her coupons to redeem. Her hairdresser was in on it.

  19. Can I borrow your grandkids? Mine is in Montreal, mostly, so no helping the oldies out. We did get amazing tins of cookies, done after she got home. I did not ask about the kitchen.
Nice red socks, there. And your clowns are pure gold.
