Somehow or other at sometime or other, I got to know Lorna via the blogs. She posted as Lorna in Wonderland and then Still in Wonderland, but she wrote her last post almost five years ago.
We lived far apart at first, but once we moved to the Ottawa Valley, we got acquainted with Lorna and Dave on a personal level. After a two-year hiatus, we met up once again this week at the Coffin Creek Coffee Shop near us, and I will post two pictures of the grand event.
I am posting this because within the last year, someone or other, either here or on fb, asked about Lorna, and it might be that said person will chance upon this post. For most of you, however, it won't mean anything because of when Lorna stopped posting.
Oh I love the pics!
ReplyDeleteGreat background in that last shot! whoo hoo!
Oh John, thanks so much! It was me asking about Lorna, as we were faithful readers of each others' blogs for years and I have missed her so much since she stopped writing.
ReplyDeleteAfter questioning you, I did manage to reach Dave (Lorna's "stellar helper") via email and he updated me on Lorna's life and condition.
It's so good to see her.
Oh it was you. It seems to fall in place now.
DeleteI want that tablecloth. I've got the tarot cards. All I'd need is the crystal ball. Oh and the round table.
ReplyDeleteSomeday when casting about for a topic to write about, you might satisfy my curiosity about the 'AnvilCloud' handle.
ReplyDeleteYour wish is my command. Tomorrow, then.
DeleteThis is so funny. Never having met anyone, I look at the pic and see oh, John and sue, so that must be the other friends! Do you feel seen??
ReplyDeleteFor real? You have a town called Coffin Creek? What is it's history? The only place for miles around where you could get wood and a coffin made? The completed coffin was floated down the creek to the recipient? Can I pre-order one as I get older? Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteNo, it’s just a coffee shop. So disappointing, I know. Oh well. 😎
DeleteIt's always fun to have "meet-ups" with blogging friends. I've had several.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
hugs
Donna
It is so much fun meeting and then staying in contact with bloggers. I have met a couple of them, one all the way from Denmark. That second photo is priceless!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to meet virtual friends in real life, though I've only done it once.
ReplyDeleteI've met with one other, at first by sheer chance. She recognized me in a country store. Back in the days before blogging I had a fee email 'pen' pals, and I did meet one, every stayed in her home.
DeleteWhat a fun meet-up you must have had, and I assume the coffee comes with disastrous names too.
ReplyDeleteThat coffee shop looks like a fun place! I enjoy meeting blog friends. I haven't met many--let's see, Tipper of Blind Pig and The Acorn, Dave Tabler of Appalachian History, Gretel of Middle of Nowhere...I think that's all. My cousin John of By Stargoose and Hangman, of course, who i didn't actually meet until after he and I were both blogging so I can count him too. And I have talked to Quinn by phone a few times. But I do feel like I know many of my blog friends as well as I do in-person friends .
ReplyDeleteThat's Hanglands, not Hangman. Stupid autocorrect.
DeleteI think you do get a pretty good idea about people through their blogs.
DeleteLooks like a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day we will travel from NH to your neck of the woods for a meet up.
ReplyDeleteYou know, the email pal that we once visited lived in NH.
DeleteI've met a couple nearby friends through blogging! I'm having coffee with one this week and had a meet up with a different one last week. Hope Lorna is doing OK!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely reconnection! It's always special to meet up with old blogging friends in person, especially after years apart. Sharing this update will surely be meaningful to those who remember Lorna from her blogging days.
ReplyDeleteA lovely visit.
ReplyDeleteNice Looking crew!
ReplyDeleteThat is excellent. I've met several bloggers. YAM even stayed with us!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh! This is so much fun. I've met several bloggers too and it is always a joy.
ReplyDeleteHow charming! I like any place with the words "coffin" and "coffee" in the name. xoxo
