Sunset Across the Mississippi

You may recall some shots of the kids by the river last week, where JJ and I skipped rocks for one thing. I thought that it might be a suitable location for evening shots, so I returned on the weekend.

I set up the tripod and waited. These first two photos show the setup. I was trying to get the rock in the foreground. If and when I return, I may put the tripod in the water to get it closer to the rock.

For what it's worth: the shots. Although they are all similar (although cropped differently), I actually stayed for a half hour or more as it got darker and the light changed.

Ooh. Nice. I like the composition of the first of the three the best, but they are all interesting, and very, very pretty.

I have been missing our sunsets since we have total cloud cover most evening. I like how you followed getting something in the foreground for a better composition. Good job and lovely photo.

We will be tracelling on the Mississippi today, John, in a paddlewheel ship on a tour during iur stoo here in LaCrosse, WI. We are not in a big hurry on this cross country road trip and making many stoos, yet still win’t see everything. It’s nice to have the kuxury of time with no set schedule to follow.
