On a New Year's Eve quite unlike any other in my memory, I sit and read while those in my world sleep: Cuppa because she's sick, and Thesha because she's pregnantly tired. Rocky the cat has actually made it to this point of watching the New Year in with me. I thought he'd head to bed as he usually does by now, but I just had to shove the purring critter from my lap to write this tiny entry.
And so, I have spent the evening reading, finishing one Clare Fergusson and Russ Van Alstyne Mystery and starting another — thanks to Lorna in Wonderland for the suggestion. I have hoisted a quiet and modest Bailey's (or two) and have felt a bit lonely at times (with all due respect to Rocky), but it's been differently okay.
So, Happy New Year or HNY for short out there across Canada, the USA, the UK, The Netherlands, South Korea, and Australia. I think that covers it, but if not HNY to you too.
happy new year!
ReplyDelete...oddly, as I brought in the New Year at an event, I too felt a bit lonely. I was in a room of 100+ people, and felt lonely. Strange, but probably due to lack of sleep as of late.
ReplyDeleteOff to my pillow.
HNY to you and yours, A/C. Thinking of you.
And a Happy New Year back to you! We didn't make it to the actual change over of the year, but had an earlier, "family friendly" New Year celebration instead
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you. I made it to 11:15 PM and could not stay awake due to a developing minor cold. My New Year celebrations have really toned down to nothing! I have read all the novels you speak of. The last one disappointed me (death of Russ' wife) and I haven't checked to see if any others have been written. But the first ones were good reads.
ReplyDeleteAC,
ReplyDeleteLike you, I brought in the New Year with only Meeko for companionship. Hubby had to work and sleep the early part of the evening and then left just before midnight. However, it is quiet and peaceful and that is the way I've brought in the last 3 New Years. I really don't mind.
I am also glad we "got together" (using your words) this year. I enjoy making new friends and class you as one of them.
Happy New Year. Hope your day is wonderful.
Blessings,
Mary
Wishing you and yours the happiest of New Years. I hope Cuppa is feeling better soon. With a new little one on the way, this new year promises to be a busy one. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too!
ReplyDeleteAh! Here you are!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, AC!
These pixes are sparklers.
Can't believe how grownup and adorable Nikki Dee is.
Wow.
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteRon & I managed to stay up until midnight but I can guarantee I was sound asleep by 12:05am :)
We recorded Dick Clark's countdown last night so we had a 'child friendly' countdown at lunch today. Rachel & Natalie didn't care either way :)
Happy new year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteAwwww....but at Least you had a good read and a little kitty to keep you company!!! We were in ZZZZland at midnight. Hope you had a Happy day!!hughugs
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteNew Year can be a sad and lonely time for many. We were certainly quiet with only the two of us this year.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and Cuppa. Hope she feels better soon. I enjoyed the videos.
Happy New Year to you. I am visiting from Chris B's Ms. Cellania, but I think that I have been here before. Take care. I hope that your 2009 is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAC,
ReplyDeleteI also was feeling a little lonely. Charles was up- but we were in separate rooms doing our separate things...
We DID meet to watch the big ball come down, tho! :)
Happy New Year!
Junie
The same to you, AC and I look forward to your words and pictures in 2009.
ReplyDeleteWas it quiet the world over? I wonder what that means? Happy New Year!
ReplyDelete(Caroline's is even better than Bailey's.)
DDAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!
ReplyDeleteCarolines has no apostrophe! (I give up!)
