I am not sure when we last got the bikes out, but I know we didn't bike at all last year and possibly not the preceding year either. My last cycling endeavour pulled a muscle in my leg, I think from going up an incline too rapidly. We've been out twice now, keeping to smooth roads for the most part while pedaling gently and avoiding inclines as much as we can.
On day 2, I recorded our route and mileage. It's not impressive, but it still felt good.
We have our phones mounted, and Sue managed some photos to take some photos.
Here's a larger version of one of the above pictures as we cycled through the neighbourhood park.
It feels good to get back in the saddle again. In my early days of blogging I wrote about our rides periodically if not frequently. We enjoyed riding pretty fair distances. It's different now, of course, but it is still a pleasant activity. As we approach our 80s (we are both 79 or will be very shortly), we feel secure in our balance and hope that our bodies allow us to continue this activity in its present, reduced form.

Now that is awesome! Bicycling keeps your legs strong along with balance, so important!
ReplyDeleteAlso, it is a great way to just get out!
Cute that you are riding with a young one.👌
What fun...and excellent to have a youngster along to give pace as well as new eyes' seeing what you have to share. Love these photos from the handlebars! And I'm quite impressed with your mobility. You don't need a cane to peddle!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy biking but John and I haven't done so at all this summer! It's great that Sue and you can ride with confidence since biking is low stress on the legs and body, although not the rear end. :) Did the kid and you coordinate your outfits?
ReplyDeleteGood for you guys. I got rid of my bike years ago since it wasn't fun to ride in the city anymore.
ReplyDeleteIt's brilliant that you and Sue still enjoy riding. Even more fun to take a grandchild along.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are taking a kid along with you.
ReplyDeleteGood for you both! And what a great companion! I loved riding bikes when I was young but where we live isn't conducive to biking--even if I was still able,
ReplyDeleteI used to love biking in my pre-wheelchair days. Biked to work for years. Now it's choosing streets with the smoothest pavement 'cause the small bumps hurt!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you get out on the bikes. I quit cycling the day I was 80. My balance was suspect.
ReplyDeleteThis trio sounds buzzworthy to me. Glad you're back in the saddle.
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived nearer to some trails. If I did, I would certainly ride more often. I have to lower the bikes from the ceiling of my garage, blow off all the wood dust from my projects, load them up in the car and drive to a trail. All that really takes the wind out of my sails and so they mostly just hang from the ceiling collecting dust.
ReplyDeleteGood for you both getting back on the bikes. I gave it up long ago. Me and bike seats aren't compatible.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever want to get in a real saddle, you know where I am! The boy has a red connection to you.
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly, do it, because if you don't keep practicing, your skills will fade until you don't even dare to ride anymore.
ReplyDeleteI love bikes without motors!!!
Best wishes and have fun cycling, both of you, and it's even more fun with such wonderfully nice company.
Hugs
