Caturday 77: No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

It popped up on my Google Calendar on Wednesday: the sixth anniversary of Lacey's adoption. She had mewed plaintively in her cat carrier all of the way home. Upon arrival, we plopped her in her litter box. She paid no heed but bounded out to explore. The box is out of the way on the landing halfway down the basement stairs, but she found it when she needed it and hasn't missed yet.

The only bit of the above that is relevant to this post is that it was her sixth anniversary. All of the rest I included because I knew that y'all would be riveted.

But what about the punished good deed, AC? Quit stalling, man.

How can you give an old cat who has no interest in cat toys some a treat of some kind?

Well, she does like to eat.

So ... I dropped in to the pet store and purchased two expensive tins of seafood pate. The real good stuff, y'know.

I'll have you know that Lacey never throws up, but ya know what?

After consuming a generous portion, she found an obscure corner and heaved away prodigiously.

Sue found ii by accident and had a deuce of a time cleaning it up.

She then stumbled, knocked the stuff over, and had the privilege of cleaning it up again.

Many are called, but puke are chosen, or something.

  1. I sometimes see on free cycle offerings of expensive cat food and wonder if someone suddenly decided she no longer liked that premium brand.

  2. Ah, the sound of a cat throwing up in the night.

  3. We had a cat years ago that started showing similar results after eating rich food and we ended up taking her to the vet. I think at that time he told us that older cats sometimes stop producing certain enzymes or something that aids in the digestion of rich, fatty type foods and that we needed to just maintain a dry kibble diet. We did though the cat certainly let us know that it wasn't her desire to continue eating only dry kibble.

    1. Yet others say that just dry food is hard on the kidneys. So we do both, but we'll stick with the cheaper brands -- that are not cheap at all, actually.

  5. Poor Lacey—and poor Sue! That’s some serious feline betrayal after such a well-intended treat. Cats sure have a way of keeping us on our toes! 😆 Here’s to a less eventful Caturday next time.

I’d love for you to check out my new post! 😊

  6. Fresh cat hurl is just a mess to get up out of carpeting and of course they never do it on a hard surface. I must prefer when they are kicking out the kibble instead of the wet stuff, but neither is fun. Still, you know she loved it. Maybe on year seven, give her a few scoops over a longer time! (Or maybe you did!) Meanwhile, congratulations on six years of loving Lacey. She got a great home!

  7. Not a great way to celebrate! I hope Lacey's feeling better today after sleeping it off.

  8. Oh yes, that sound...if I could spell wetching right, I would have said that! And I even stepped in such one night being unawares that it had been gifted in the path to the bathroom. Believe me I yelped loud enough to wake the cats! Congrats to Lacey for choosing such well trained hooman-slaves to meet her every need.

  9. At least Sue found it before it petrified into the carpet.
