Sleepover

If it wasn't the final sleepover, we must be getting close.

Last Christmas season, both Danica and Jonathan claimed a sleepover, but Danica is growing up. She is a student, has a job, AND! has a boyfriend. Sheesh!

We were somewhat surprised when JJ requested a sleepover. My guess is that he was encouraged by Mom, but that's okay.

I picked him up mid-afternoon, Friday, and he left for hockey at 10am Saturday morning.

Lacey had to have a visit first thing. She likes JJ, but she now has competition, for they have just adopted a new rescue. I am sure that there will come a point when we shall Caturday the new puss, so that is all that I shall say for now.

Jonathan is pretty easy to please. He likes playing games with us, and we began with backgammon. I was going to say that I didn't win any games all weekend, but now I recall that I triumphed in both games of backgammon.

Next came Wizard where Sue left both of us boys in the dust.

Next on the beard, so to speak, was Sorry. The two rounds were split between JJ and Sue.

Finally, before Jonathan left for hockey on Saturday morning, we were able to squeeze in a quick round of Monopoly, in which JJ was victorious.

Dad picked him up for a out-of-town game, and Sha picked us up a half hour later. We sat under the heaters in the cold arena, but the heaters nearest to us remained off. Such is life.

The boys won. They are having a very good year. After two not-so-great years that is ... um ... great. 😎

JJ is getting very grown up! What fun to play all those games (I love games) but I've never experienced a short one of Monopoly. Congrats to the team on their successful season!

Games give children and grownups an almost equal playing field. Until various strategies are used! Sorry you had to be in the cold section at the game, but it's good to hear his team is doing better. And a boyfriend! Oh my, she's really growing up!

They will grow up. But they won't forget.

I can't recall seeing heaters in an arena, but I spend relatively little time there.

I love playing old games with the family....and new ones too. The rest of the family does not play Backgammon with my husband. He is from Persia and, even after 60 years away, he can finish a game and leave you in the dust in 60 seconds flat!!!

I love board games. I guess I should check into the senior center and play a few games.

My parents went to a "how to retire" class and learned that grandparents shouldn't assume that the grandkids WANT to come visit. They were blessed with all 6 wanting to visit many times during the summers. Sounds like JJ likes his break from home and hanging out with you two! How do you have a quick game of Monopoly? We had marathon hours-lasting games in college. Linda in Kansas

Your grandchildren are growing as fast as our own, AC, Nd nice that Jonathon enjoys a sleepover and game playing. We did a lot of game playing over the holidays with family and it is a fun way to connect and interact.

Boyfriend? You'll have to tell us more about that. I love to play Monopoly.

My last sleepover with both my grandparents was when I was 28! I only stopped sleepovers because I emigrated to a different country. Never too old to visit and stay for a bit. It is fun to see your grands growing into young adults!

I love board games with kids and I hope our two grow up to be like JJ and not get totally lost in the video games at the expense of the others!
