I came across some old photos. This was me in 1962. I was 15 and, apparently, had a bit of an Elvis vibe going on, which is why I am bothering to post this photo. Perhaps I am just seeing that because we watched the Elvis movie over Christmas.
Time flies, and sixteen or so years later, I had a daughter to whom I read books. She had ear problems (both our girls did) and you can see white in her ear, presumably from a cotton ball. The photo stood out to me because I like the shape of my beard. If I could shape it like that way today, I would, but I am currently letting it grow into a fuller beard that I don't have to shape at all because I seem to have lost whatever eye and dexterity that I once possessed. Which wasn't much.
Curiously, the book I was reading was Robin Hood, which for a long time was the movie that JJ would pick to watch on his sleepovers.
A lovely moment back in time!
ReplyDeleteTime flies, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteOh how much your first photo reminds me of JJ...he sure resembles you. Great to see you sharing some early photos from your life! More please!
ReplyDeleteI had several Robin Hood books as he was one of my favorite subjects to read about when younger but all mine were quite thicker versions of that book.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fine beard.
ReplyDeleteBoth are sweet pictures. Memories!
ReplyDeleteLove these photos, AC. Great memories too.
ReplyDeleteLove the ever so cool lean on the car!
ReplyDeleteLooking back at old photos is so precious because there are so many memories tied up with them. Elvis, yes!
ReplyDeleteI see the Elvis vibe there.
ReplyDeleteFun blast from your past.
ReplyDeleteThe beard, vibe, and daddy pic are cool, but I'm still trying to figure out the vibrant multi-color curtains! Those were the days! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loved Robin Hood when she was a child. We watched the movie a lot. We read the books, a lot.
ReplyDeleteNow she lives ajacent to Sherwood Forest. Strange, isn't it?
I love the Elvis look! Could you lift one side of your upper lip the way he did?
ReplyDeleteI HAVE SIMILAR VINTAGE PHOTOS OF READING TO MY KIDS AND SOME NIECES AND NEPHEW. i CAN'T BELIEVE HOW YOUNG WE LOOKED.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the movie and hope you did, too. There is a definite Elvis vibe in that first picture. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove this...brings back lots of reading memories with my kids. For Christmas this year, my grown daughter gave me my own set of the vintage Harry Potter novels to match hers, a touching nod to when we read them together when she was a kid.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to see you in your younger days.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing photos of people "back in the day." You were rocking the Elvis!
