Caturday 46++: Lacey Really Likes JJ

It isn't news, for I have posted (probably more than once) that Lacey likes JJ. Almost as soon as he came for his sleepover last weekend, she hopped up for a visit. They were cuddlier than this phone photo shows, but I like this one. The b&w version was an afterthought, but, as it often the case, I like it better. Of course, my taste is variable, and I may not feel that way tomorrow.

Now for the + part of the title.

As you know, I often experiment. This time I turned a recent photo that I have previously shown you into a partial b&w ↓. This can be called selective colour.

I am mainly showing it as an excuse to answer a recent query about photo gloves – you know, the ones where you can expose just your critical fingers. Yes, I have a pair, and I am wearing them in the ↑ photo (with all digits covered).

The gloves are especially made for photographers. I paid a king's ransom for them, and they do help. But I tell Sue that they were made for American winters, not Canadian, for they are not all that warm. Besides, if you have the tips of 4 digits exposed for a prolonged period at -10C, as I did later that morning, they get extremely cold. I felt like my 4 exposed fingers might drop off at any moment.

As for the second +, I just thought I would show you an out-the-window phone pic, taken yesterday, Friday, morning. It had been almost snow-less earlier on Thursday, I mean in places where it hadn't been artificially piled, such as our front yard around the tree.

Now, town roads and our driveway have been plowed (or ploughed), but I will likely remain indoors today, for it is a cold -12C/10F as I sit here before 6 o'clock in the morning.

Lacey knows who she likes.

I find even regular gloves too cold for any time outdoors. Cold fingers and photography go hand in hand, so to speak!

Ouch! Frozen fingers are no fun. Cats are very particular critters, aren't they?

I tried fingerless gloves a couple of years ago as a friend who makes them gifted me with a pair. They didn’t work well as my exposed fingers would get too cold in winter to take outdoor photos. I resorted to regular, all coverage gloves, and now try to limit outdoor photo taking in really frigid temps. The new snow cover looks better than our soggy ☔️.

I joined you double today...caterday with a cat at the bookstore and it's snowing here. Nothing pretty like yours, and we're just at 21 F...so of course you are the king of the hill! (I added my snow notes to my blog when I work up, I'm never up at 3 when it publishes!)

We have snow this morning. Very light fine stuff. Not supposed to last long. Oh, now it's a bit heavier looking as I type and look out my window.

Personally, I'm heading south as a Snowbird, and leaving my gloves behind.

Cats are very particular which is part of their dubious charm. Mari only likes me and a few other people. Alison, who used to own her. My late dad. John--but only if he gives her treats. She hates my older daughter who loves cats and has never done anything to cause it. Love the partial black and white with the pop of red jacket. I would stay in too!!

I've found that my camera objects to the cold even faster than my fingers.

I found those gloves didn't work for me either.
In the B&W JJ's face seems to show up more that in the colour.

I love the selective color/colour one!

Good gosh! JJ has really grown. I remember him still as a littler kid. He is growing to be a handsome young man.
And wow! That IS a LOT of snow.

I have a pair of gloves where the fingers hinge and you can open the glove to let your fingers do finer work. I don't like them. They're just cold. I like the old days before I wore gloves. Didn't wear gloves until after 65.

A very good day to stay inside and pet a cat!

The selective colouring is an art to perfect. I am too lazy to do masking on photoshop

I like that pop of colour in the partial B & W one!
Pretty cold today. Quite the shock!
