So Sad

I am almost certain that I posted this photo last summer, but I post again today because I am thinking of the grandparents of the Newtown tragedy. I am really thinking about everyone and sick at heart about the whole thing, but being a grandparent, I am especially grieving for those who won't see their grandchildren ever again. It's so sad.

In this picture Sue and Dancia were playing a game something like pattycakes at the park this summer. It was a good day.I would be devastated if such good days had come to an untimely and awful end yesterday. Otherwise, words fail.

I have no words to express how I feel about the tragedy. It puts our daily pets and peeves in perspective.

A beautiful pair and now more broken hearts. Close by here in Minnesota a grandfather mistakenly shoots his granddaughter in the dark and a grandfather kills two teenages who a breaking and entering. One, a girl, lying on the floor wounded he puts his handgun to her throat "to finish the job." All in the last week. Now some personal and national courage is needed to finally put an end to this insanity. Sadly, I'm not sure the will and follow through exists....:(

It is difficult to make sense of these senseless and recurring tragedies. This CT incident being by far the worst, not only in numbers dead, but the innocence and ages of the victims. I cannot try to figure out or understand the motives of the sick, twisted people who commit these acts with alarming frequency as if trying to outdo one another. We would surely have hugged our grandchildren if they were nearby as I am sure you and Sue did and so many other parents and grands will be doing this weekend.

I can't even begin to imagine the depth of pain those families are feeling. Parents and grandparents should not outlive their wee ones.

Every little child and teacher who died had a life story that celebrated living and through an unspeakable death ended and denied the joys of their futures to those who loved them.

AC--you have captured well one of the sources of sadness for me. The thought that parents and grandparents are forever deprived of the children who brought joy to their lives is almost unbearable.
Sadder still for me is knowing that it was someone's child (and grandchild) who inflicted this great grief.
