On Repeat, In a Big Way
Does the above picture look familiar to you? The hobo guy on The Polar Express is sure becoming familiar to me, for I'm seeing a lot of him. And Shrek the Halls too. The benefit of the latter is that it's relatively short. The benefit of the former is that there are a few parts that cause Nikki Dee to become a trifle apprehensive, so I get a number of lap requests. Cuddling on my lap, however, does sometimes lead to odd positions.
Yes indeed, SILly couldn't help himself and brought home a huge HDTV — "for the family," don't you know. I must say that with the very fine surround sound that he already had set up, it makes for quite a fine viewing experience, and Nikki Dee now frequently asks for "Movie?" She leads me by the hand, and we head downstairs to the rec room where I am fortunate enough to view Shrek or Polar Express one more time.
Once those films are put away until next year (as I trust they will be in a few weeks), I wonder what the next repetitive attractions will be. Lion King, perhaps?
One hardly needs to go see movies on the Big Screen anymore because everyone (except Cuppa and me) has one in their own house — where the popcorn is cheaper. Still, it's not like a date, so I'm sure we'll still be heading to the local cinema for our usual dose of three of four movies per year.

I am waiting for our old TV to collapse so HH will get a new big screen. A/C I am confused why you are confused when you read my post today.
ReplyDeleteI had so many pictures of the sky just used them to reflect how often we are looking up. Looking for what? Usually just the weather.
QMM
We're still watching our old 23" TV which shows no sign of aging.
ReplyDeleteWe talk about buying a new flat screen and mounting it over the fire place. Prices have certainly come down recently. But we've done nothing but talk.
LOLOL...How Fun!!! I remember those days! It was Jim Carey's, The Grinch here...Over & Over...hahaa...And The Santa Claus Movie with Tim Allen...hughug
ReplyDeleteI had never really understood my husband's longing for a big flat screen HDTV. That is until my hubby finally persuaded me to allow for one. Now... I can not imagine not having one. I too am really enjoying the movie experience right from the comfort of my living room, especially on these very cold winter evenings.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of the two munchkins standing under the TV. So cute!! And they are growing up so fast!
Even though I love Christmasfilms, I cannot imagine watching one over and over and over and over. Although: have you tried A Muppet Family Christmas? Only half an hour, but very funny, a lot of songs and the Sesame Street gang!
ReplyDeleteAnd the telly: if I had enough money I would get myself a wall mounted flat screen hdtv thingymebob. I just have to deal with my widescreen one for now...
AC,
ReplyDeletePolar Express is a great movie.. must watch it again this holiday season.... however, I'm not familiar with Shrek the Halls... We'll have to get that one too...
LadyCat and I were married this past September... we have 4 grandkids in the age range 3-8... so we're to have much much fun this year. You have some cuties there yourself, fine sir!

ReplyDeleteNext time you watch Polar Express, wave as the train passes Herpolshiemer's! I used to go there at Christmas time as a child to ride the train that hung on the ceiling in their basement.
ReplyDeleteMy grandson and my dad (a former railroad worker) watched it together last year. This year, the grandson is just too emotional about missing 'Pa' to watch it.
what a big TV, the kids must enjoy it. Big Bird?
