Sue required a sunset photo, so off we went to Riverside Park. The trouble is that you can't order a sunset on demand, but you do what you can.
I did take my camera, but there wasn't much going on and I couldn't find a composition that I wanted to shoot. I walked about and sat about and contemplated views, but there wasn't anything happening.
We meandered to the east end of the park by the boat launch where I photographed the tree that you have seen more than once recently. It will sorta do in a pinch.
However, as Sue was walking through the park, she did capture a canoeist along with a sun flare: some like flares and some don't.
On another walk along another boardwalk and another swamp, one that we don't get to very often, we came across a couple looking at a painted turtle. It was much smaller that the recent snappers but also prettier.
A nice collection. The familiar tree is always a winner.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know what a sun flare was...thanks. Generally speaking, I just avoid pointing towards the light, since subjects then become just silhouettes.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. The same setting evolves and looks different. Love these!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful series. I love the turtle 🐢 and the sunset. The 🐦 bird is so cute.
ReplyDeleteLove the turtle.
ReplyDeleteThe red-winged blackbird is especially nice.
ReplyDeleteI love the canoeist (?) in the sunset--beautiful capture! I'm a fan of sunset photos of any type. That tree is also a favorite.
ReplyDeleteAfter all that snow seeing open water and green must be lke the biggest gift ever!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely selection of photographs. The painted turtle is very attractive.
ReplyDeleteIt’s so refreshing to read about your walks—sometimes, the journey itself becomes the story, even if the sunset doesn’t cooperate. It’s amazing how those unexpected moments, like the canoeist or the painted turtle, find their way into your experience and your photos. There’s a quiet beauty in capturing the everyday, and I love how your posts always bring us along on your wanderings.

Lately, your blog is like turtle school for me. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first canoeist shot. A lot.
ReplyDeleteAll you need is a fishing pole in your hand.
ReplyDeleteAll very nice photos. Love the turtle.
Really nice photos.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the best intentions don’t align with the moment. Your photos are authentic
ReplyDeleteLots of great shots but the turtle is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, the pictures are great.
ReplyDeleteSue did get the sunset shot after all and the canoeist just added to the image. Yes, we've seen that tree many times, but it never gets old.
ReplyDeleteSue took some lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a productive day! It's nice to see the canoes. Around here, it's all kayaks.
ReplyDeleteSometimes sunsets just don't cooperate.
ReplyDeleteHaha. That turtle looks like he's super proud of himself. 🙂
ReplyDeleteMy fav is the canoist against the sinking sun. Orange and blacks.
I'm not back to blogging yet. I just returned from that 3 week trip to Japan and have to go off on another trip to Chicago. I'll be back in June. Hopefully.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us along on your trip. I'm so hot here in Hawaii and I felt cooler just looking at your beautiful photos.
I love how the sunset defines every branch of that old tree. I also love the canoe-r paddling home with enough light to bring him through a dark night
ReplyDeleteThe turtle is thrilled with the spring weather!
ReplyDeleteThe canoe photo is perfect!! The colors are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the painted turtles. Sybarites, to a man. And you caught the red-wing's red and yellow perfectly. I like the tree shot. And, ahem, the canoeist you saw paddling. If it was a canoe doing it, that would be a photo worth having.
ReplyDeleteYou know I only do it to annoy...
The bird and the turtle...showstoppers...
ReplyDeletehugs
Donna
