I'll begin this second post of Jock River Paddle photos with another distant shot. I really like the smoothness and colour of the water in this photo along with the super reflections from the lead canoe. and it's red too: bonus.
Then, I returned to the closer photos. This young paddler looked to be having a great time.
At the other end of the age spectrum, not everyone had big smiles. Not everyone smiles, even if they are enjoying themselves. I am not a big smiler, so I understand this.
This fellow was really concentrating,
The canoes and kayaks were still coming, but I figured that I had enough photos of people whom I didn't know, so I departed. Upon driving into my driveway, I was most pleasantly surprised to see that some of the tulips had opened, and they looked so wonderful with their pretty faces turned toward the sun.
Paddlers and tulips, a perfect combination as it turns out.
ReplyDeleteThe sun brings out the best in everyone and everything.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone having a good time, smiles or no.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely tulips. Yours and my neighbors makes me thik I should plant some next fall to enjoy come spring 2026.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time those canoedellers were having, as well as kayakers! yes, spellcheck doesn't know how to spell canoe-dell-ers. Silly thing.
ReplyDeleteNot many of those folks were wearing PFD's??? It would be a very cold and breath-taking dump.
ReplyDeleteWater and tulips 🌷 Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love that multi-colored tulip! I wish all the boaters were wearing life jackets. Being cautious about the water and not the strongest swimmer, I certainly would be.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have a good day like you had.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it was a lot of fun for everyone.
ReplyDeleteTimes have really changed. Back in my kayaking days, the cockpits were small and required one to squirm and work at it to get your legs in through the opening and then you had a sprayskirt around your waist that seal the water out. If you tipped over, it required an unnatural feeling forward roll to extract yourself from the same tight cockpit before drowning. These days, there aren't any sprayskirts and no contortion acts necessary. One must apply sunscreen to your legs though which wasn't an issue with my kayaks.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the photos! And your comment about some people smiling made me laugh. I was a very serious baby (and am mostly a serious person) and so was my daughter. When I met my cousin’s daughter, who is the same age as mine, I thought there was something wrong with her because she just smiled and laughed SO MUCH. Ridiculous thought, but there it is. She works for NASA now, so clearly is very bright.
ReplyDeleteYour day was full of glorious color! The tulips are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had tried kayaking when I was younger. Now I am afraid to.
A lovely time!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the paddlers and the tulips are beauties!
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow tulips with the red streaking. I don't believe I've ever seen them before.
ReplyDeleteI like the paddlers, the young man looks joyful! As do those cheery tulips :)
ReplyDeleteFun. You comments about smiles seem simple, but they're actually profound. If only more people understood this.
ReplyDeleteYes, the first photo was a triumph. And hello tulips.
