I was to be found in a clothing store on Wednesday morning, for there is a downside to losing weight.
Basically, I was swimming in my summer shorts (not literally), and when the temperature went up to 26C/79F, it was time to start getting myself out of hot jeans and into something cooler.
So, three shorts and many dollars later, I think that am more or less set for summer.
I also felt the need to purchase a new belt for the first time in many a decade. Fortunately, jeans had already been updated.
As long as I don’t need to dress up for some fine occasion or other, I should be sufficiently kitted for awhile.
What I will also share with you is how awful my body looks. At one time in my life, I looked pretty good at this weight, but I already have an old, saggy body that is now compounded by skin that was stretched too far for too long.
It ain't pretty, I tells ya.
I see a truly ancient body in my mirror, too. But I rationalize that if it works, that's ok. I think.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are not trying to swim in those big clothes. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteGreat to have a new weight, if not a new body. It's possible that skin will fit better after a while...but if not, you'll just have extra cooling area for the hot months. I look in the mirror seldom, but have a gratitude for all this old body has done. You've had some good miles there!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your weight loss.
ReplyDeleteI have the same issue. There is a lot of sagging going on. I tell myself my bikini days are long past and clothes do the job of covering it up. I congratulate you on the weightloss.
ReplyDeleteWell done, even if your skin isn't as elastic as it once was - mine isn't either! I wish there was a zipper to close to tighten it all up :)
ReplyDeleteGetting old sucks!
ReplyDeleteI say aesthetics is disproportionately weighted over the other important criteria on the rubric for the human body.
ReplyDeleteI had dinner with someone the other day who has recently lost a lot of weight and yeah, there’s a lot of saggy skin. I would like to lose some weight, but don’t look forward to that side effect. Oh well, as long as our bodies can get us around and do the things we want to do, I guess we can forgive them.
ReplyDeleteAll of us look better with clothes on at this age. Event those of us who haven't lost weight. (but need to)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the weight loss. Good job and better health, that's what really counts!
ReplyDeleteHealthy and Fit,
ReplyDeleteThat's the best of it!
Yep. I hear you. But consider the alternative.
ReplyDeleteI so wish I could lose some weight (specifically in the belly area). I'm about 15 lbs. over what I consider to be my ideal body weight, and that's where it all seems to be stored. As a retired person, I'm less active than I used to be, but no one told my brain I no longer need as much fuel. My appetite hasn't changed!

DeleteYes, and I like all of the bad foods. 😟
I can relate to this and your feelings too well. I've lost 80 lbs in the last year and dropped 2 dress sizes. Things are saggy but at least I'm not out of breath all the time.
ReplyDeleteYou've done very well. Congrats. 🎆
DeleteCongrats on the weight loss, even if your body’s not quite matching the celebration just yet.
ReplyDeleteIt gets better. It improves. But don't forget to stretch.
ReplyDeleteWell done with the weight loss, AC. Not an easy feat!
ReplyDeleteMost people look better wearing clothes that cover all the vital areas - and many of the others, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll look handsome either way. Try buying clothes that fit my old body sitting in a wheelchair!
ReplyDeleteI wondered about that, if I did ever lose weight. I sure need to! Ah well, I ain't out to catch another man! You have done well, AC.
ReplyDeleteI bet Sue loves you just as much as ever, and that’s what matters.
