Eight Days Later

No doubt you hang on every word that I write and do your utmost to commit my posts to memory. So, of course, you remember this ↓ first-day-of-spring photo from last week.

No, you don't recall this photo of our snow removal sign? Well, I wrote then that in the previous week the snow had receded from the top of the 6 to reveal the whole area code. But that it had changed much in the preceding week. And here's where ae are now.

I was somewhat surprised the see the amount of decrease because we haven't experienced any real warm weather to speak of. However, most days are at least rising slightly above freezing, and we also had a day of rain.

It was even more surprising to see how much the pile had abated at its deepest point. I am 6' tall, so I guess that is less than 5' in the deepest section. That did surprise me because when I first started checking the mound, it seemed to be about 7' high and perhaps even more.

The tree in the background ↑ is in the centre of a small garden ↓ around it. As you can see, there remains a lot of snow on top.

I would like the snow to be gone before the tulips try to push through, for they did this once before. I can't prove it because I can't find the pictures that I am pretty sure that I took back then. I think it was back in '08, but I may be a year or two out.

However, the tulips are likely safe for a few more weeks as they tend not to bloom fully before early May. I must try to note the time better this year and not rely on my very unreliable recollection.

I don't miss the time I spent living in the frozen tundra of the north. Our grass is starting to green up a bit and as soon as it dries, I'll be in our garden. That suits me just fine.

Slowly, oh so slowly it disappears. We have more each day however. Enough already!

Our Tulip Festival is in April. This year though, they won't be showing until the middle of the month at the earliest.

That's still a lot of snow you have to melt. Hope it gets busy so the tulips will be able to shine in their time!

we are just the opposite, experiencing very hot weather here..

Wish we had a tulip garden here in Hawaii. Anyway, this is most interesting seeing the gradual decrease in snow. I also loved the photos of Sue and the statues in your previous post. Good job!

My tulips aren't close to blooming although they're up quite a ways. Every year I say that they bloom later but it could be faulty recollection.

Our snow is almost gone! But will it snow again? Who knows? I love these updates on the snow pile.

Wow! What a lot of snow! We had so little this year, it was disappointing. Although I am glad to not have to deal with the mounds you have. Takes a strong people to deal with that!

Only the most stubborn of snow drifts remains here. I saw two large swathes of Snowdrops yesterday and thought of you.

Snow is done: I want to believe.

Hi AC, snow is totally gone here unless you count the small piles in parking lots. Glad to "see" yours is dramatically shrinking. And, yes (smile) I can make a post of many things including mud season, which it seems is happening now in so many areas besides New England...as it usually does.

I have tulips and daffies emerging!
And I DO remember your sign!

Best for it to be a slow melt after the kind of winter we've had.

It's subliming. But, do not look outside now. If we keep the power, it will be amazing. At least one episode of wind shear that I noticed. Ah well, April will come. And the bulbs will shoot up.

I remembered that immediately!

I am so utterly tired of snow. We had a fairly robust snow squall this late morning. It was disheartening.

Love the photos. I have seen snow like that. But not for a few years, and never in March.

It is cheering to see the snow steadily melting. Side note: you do not lose ..your feet often do you? What with all the bright colors...
