Caturday 47: Rocky Reminder

It pops up on my Google calendar every March: Rocky 2010. That's all that I need to remind me that was when he passed away, and it briefly saddens me.

Rocky was the cat to which I have probably been most connected. He seemed to prefer me to Sue or at least hold us as equal, and he has been the only being, human or otherwise, for whom that has been true. Except for my mother . . .  maybe . . . maybe not.

Rocky being a typical cat in a box at Christmas.
The atypical Lacey doth not do boxes.

It's alright, Lacey; don't look so taken-aback. We love you too. It's just that you don't love me as much as he did.

Some cat's have it pretty good, and sometimes we might want to be one.

Rocky was a beauty!

What a beautiful Tuxedo fellow he was. It's so touching to have memories of pets with personalities.

Yes, the cat of your heart. If we're lucky we get an animal that does what Rocky did for you. For me, rescued cat Annabelle, rescued cockatiel Emily Hope. Out of many pet friends, the closest.

Rocky was a beauty alright but who doesn’t love Lacey?

Beautiful cat! Mari's love for me is powerful and it makes me feel special. RIP, Rocky!

All the dogs I have had were special and the closest as could be, but there was one cat who was my best buddy.

Pets do contribute to our quality of life. Rocky looks so relaxed and adorable.

By 80 years of age, many cats have wandered through my life (and across my wallet), but the best was Scotty.

He was a grand fellow.

I am trying to remember who said 'Do not give your heart to a dog to tear.' Also true, and in some ways more so, for cats. I still mourn my first cat - and he liked his food more than he liked me, so go figure. And the loss of her dog by my YD also makes me sad - I miss both of them.

I have that same feeling with Gypsy -- May 15. Stimpy? Summer. But Gypsy -- I have the date stamped on my brain.

By the way, I love you were singing Lacey's own version of Happy Wanderer to her! (I make up words for Lizzie songs, and Gypsy too, back in the day!)

JB still mourns his Sadie. Nutmeg is so stand-off-ish.

Rocky looks like he was a really "chill" kitty. I'm sure he's purring at you from cat heaven.
