The Dam and the Barn

When I went out to look for a sunset, I didn't find a good spot or composition. I took a bunch but trashed them all once I saw them on the computer. I took this one in passing from the same spot with kind of a shrug of the shoulders, and it turned out that I liked it.

On the way back home, I was moved to pull into the parking lot of The Barn on the edge of our town. I have often thought that I needed to photograph it at night, but I never remember. This was serendipity and kind of saved my efforts that evening. (The Barn is used for events such as wedding receptions, but I am not sure how much it is used. During our 13 years here, various efforts have not resulted in total entrepreneurial success.)

The second shot above is my preferred one, probably because the sky is a little bluer and brighter. In general, I like blue skies with touches of sunset (or sunrise) orange. While I do tend to saturate a little in post, I don't alter the photos a drastically; they are more or less how I perceived them or how I think I perceived them.

That first one is exceptional!

Nicely done. I prefer it when I take a photo and I am surprised when I get home. Just like my header, with the grasshopper photobombing!

Great work. Kind of a Halloweeny (LOL) effect, even if unintentional.

The second one is better because you can see the details....like the bushes and roof edges. I love the one I posted today because he is looking straight at the camera plus his friend is pointing twice to him. LOL And his smile is a little wicked too. :) I did photoshop out a person in the left area, but that's all.

oh yes, I like the bluer sky in the second picture. And the reflection in the first one.

I like the way you tell us of your thought process while taking the photos. My late husband would do the same and it always made it more interesting.

I would have to agree with Silver Willow's previous comment that the photos look a bit like late fall (Halloween did come to my mind as well) That said, I really like the overall mood the photos evoke. Thanks for your recent comments on my blog posts about our continuing cross country road trip. I haven't had much time for blog reading, so I appreciate your taking time to read and comment on ours.
