A Mystery

There are many mysteries in this life, one of which is my back. It's been spasming slightly for more than a week now — it's been a little kinky (so to speak) but not too bad. So, in the hopes of avoiding a serious episode, I've been trying to be a bit careful without taking too much preventative action if you know what I mean. Now, after all that time, it seems to be worsening and threatening to present me with a full blown attack.

What I want to know is this: why does it have to get bad before it can get better? If I'd had a serious attack back then, I would have expected to be more or less recovered by now. But as it is, I linger in a state of limbo, waiting for my back to make up its mind and go one way or the other. I don't understand why it has to be thus.

Oh AC--sorry. I suspect that just anticipating makes you tense (how could it not?) and that exacerbates everything.
A hot toddy! Isn't that what our Victorian ancestors used for everything?
Hope things ease up.

I think backs are a law unto themselves. Having suffered a couple of bouts myself recently, I find it really peculiar that the pain suddenly disappeared when the previous day I could hardly move. I assumed it must have been a trapped nerve. I hope your back decides to behave itself really soon.

BTW I enjoyed the bit in your post yesterday about *talking proper* I had a really good chuckle :)

All sympathy to you AC- a dodgy back is the PITS.
Just a thought - have you tried a memory foam mattress, or matress topper? I know several people whose problematical backs have appreciated this space age invention.
Hope all gets well soon.

I sympathize with you, AC. From my years in the ER I know that back pain can be one of the hardest things to treat correctly and doesn't seem to follow any type of protocol. Good luck and just give in to it.

Many hopes that it improves!

AC,

I hope your back decided to behave itself and that the spasms don't get any worse. Have you slipped on the ice. That's what happened to hubby. He has seen the chiropractor three times and goes again tomorrow. The chiropractor told him that things have vastly improved since last weekend, but today is was spasming again. I don't know if you would consider it but a chiropractor can help. I think you may be very tense in the spinal area, just as hubby was.

I've had a bad back since 1988, when I was in an automobile accident, so can certainly sympathize.

Thanks so much for your kind words on my writing. I've worked hard at it for years.

Take care and be careful when outside. We are to get more snow tomorrow. Is it possible that the cold is causing your problem?

Blessings,
Mary

I would say not enough baby play, not too much. Changing positions often and moving about is better for backs. Are you sitting more since you stopped your babysitting job??

good question. my back goes out of whack too. for no rhyme or reason that I can detect. I just thank god for massage therapist. walk in like a egyptian mummy. walk out limber with more pain relieved than I knew I had.
